A similar situation happened to a family member and the bank cited their internal policy to attempt not to pay. A follow-up investigating banks breaking the law (UCC) using "policies" would be a useful investigation.

Bank policy does not override or shorten the statutory timeframe established under the UCC, which provides a 1–3 year period depending on the claim. A bank's self-imposed policy cannot contractually eliminate statutory rights afforded to consumers under the UCC.

Trump calls human beings “vermin,” “garbage,” “diseases,” “poison,” and “animals.” Then, when I rightfully point out that the same dehumanizing language has been used by fascist regimes to justify humanity’s worst atrocities—Republicans lose their minds. Give me a break.

What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.

Wow. Sidney Reid, the DC woman just found not guilty of assaulting an FBI agent, issues a withering and gutsy statement on Trump through her attorneys. "I feel sorry for the prosecutors really, who must be burdened by Trump's irrational and unfounded hatred for his fellow man." It's a must-read:

This is the asymmetry in our politics and media. If this was the other way around, Biden had pardoned someone then charged with trying to kill Trump, it would be the biggest story in America and every Republican commentator, congressman, news outlet, would be screaming about it in unison.

you'd think a prominent news outlet like the New York Times might mention that "antifa" isn't an actual organization in a long story about antifa, but nope! and the subhead helps props up a false claim this professor was up to something seedy as something up for debate

The quintessential right wing move of the modern day. Say the most inflammatory shit on social media and then when you're confronted with said inflammatory shit act shocked SHOCKED that anyone would accuse you of anything untoward.

Q: You called the judge's ruling 'legal insurrection.' Are you recommending the president take action against judges who rule against him? STEPHEN MILLER: No. It's simply a factually accurate statement

John Roberts's "there's no such thing as corruption" and "the president has the right to use the DOJ as his personal law firm" jurisprudence is really working out well for us.

Conservatives basically have a moral disability -- a pathological inability to extend empathy beyond their immediate circle -- and they don't even have the good sense to be embarrassed about it.

Mace is a fucking moron.

a confused Nancy Mace on Fox accuses Biden of turning a "blind eye" to Ukraine, then in the next breath attacks Biden for "giving many assets to Ukraine," then pivots back to attacking Biden for "slow rolling" aid 🥴

Standing and waiting like a pet poodle for a murderous foreign dictator who kills America’s friends and allies, trying to suck up to him by rolling out a show of the armed forces that mostly exist to fight that very dictator.

Trump is aggressively ignorant. He does not learn, actively resists it, and has surrounded himself with people who enable his stupidity.

Great illustration of the double standard whereby Republicans can lob gross ad hominem attacks against Democrats, people who live in cities, immigrants, and others, but perceive a barely-biased description of the outcomes of their policy positions as the height of rudeness and an intolerable insult.

Launching a global trade war (increasing US prices in the process), getting rid of vaccines, and sending soldiers into US cities. This is what critics of Trump warned would happen during the campaign. But were told that they were fear mongering.

The Republican Party decided long ago that lying was a great political tactic, way better than yard signs, door-knocking and robo calls. The GOP realized its lies cost nothing to produce, and right-wing media would happily spread them, also for free.

The audacity of Vance scolding Europe for having annulled Romanian election results due to Russian interference, representing a president who violently physically attacked the US system of governance and refused to acknowledge his defeat, still claiming the elections was stolen, is simply disgusting

You are up to date.
