My favourite weather forecast is doing it right. Just a reminder that some days might have 25 hours and others have 23. If you do something with time in your software, do your tests cover that? Or are they flaky on some days of the year when almost no one is running them?

Should I use custom events to get the right error to the client and actively close the connection? Possible, but feels a bit awkward...

Sitting with a friend side by side, he's working on his code, I work on my code - and just enjoying the flow without any pressure... ☕ & 🍪 #WeCodeTogether

important information: Both our wives are on a trip with their nieces (independently from each other). So we can nerd out the whole day without feeling guilty...

Of course the author of a merge/pull request should use all available tools to get it in shape before someone else looks at it. The author is the first reviewer. This was true before AI. Besides that I'm team line-by-line, how else can I make sure the software does the right thing?

1/6 Developers are deeply divided over whether human code review is still necessary. Exaggerating slightly: one side accuses the other of abandoning code quality and blindly trusting AI. The counter is that line-by-line review simply throttles AI back down to human speed. 🐢

Do it or don't do it, there is no try... 😎🖖 (Yes, I know it's the wrong emoji...) I'm speaking of software in environments where correctness matters, not a vibe coded script you only use once on some private files...

@bananen.software interesting?

I've built and rebuilt this "thing" over the past 2.5 years ~4 times. It's finally taking real shape as a thing that other people will be able to use. A code / entire platform inspection tool - that builds code graphs and supports agents with context via MCP. "What if SonarQube was useful?"

@sifa.id @gui.do Why can't the start date not be in the future? I have signed the contract so I'm pretty sure about that... 😎 Not that important, it will resolve automagically next week... 😀

#TodayILearned When using Central Package Management in #dotnet then make sure to name that file `Directory.Packages.props` with a capital D and P, otherwise when building on a case sensitive filesystem (think Linux) you get weird NuGet errors.

Having fun trying to setup a dev-container in one of my repositories on Windows with Podman and VS Code... ...this is not a good experience...

Laptop and chocolate are packed, soon riding to the "Hacks on the Beach" event in my home town, organised by the local group of @ccc.de #ChaosComputerClub #Flensburg #hotb2026

Oh, I remember this cartoon. I really enjoyed reading that! #UserFriendly

// as a sidenote: this made me think of the webcomic "User Friendly", remember that one? 🖤 Dust puppy Great way of showing my age I guess.... anyway.... //

I was offline over the weekend, ripped of parts of a roof of friends (I just carried away the mess they threw from the roof). Now I'm back and I see the world is still burning here... People, be nice to each other, please!

Without saying your age, what is your favorite movie that came out when you were 20 years old? So many good movies in that year, but I guess we can agree on this one.

It seems that I start to collect blocks from people that may feel offended by something I wrote to the Paint.NET AI stuff that is going on, despite the fact that I'm not really liking AI. Just guessing, but looking at some of the posts those wrote, I think it's a good guess.

It is sad to see, that there are people who lack the fundamental skills for reasonable human interaction. You can disagree, but being polite in communication should be a no-brainer. And it is allowed to just not respond to something I don't like.

That said I don't want to offend people explicitly (with excemptions like Nazis etc. but even there I prefer to not respond or silently block), because I still believe that even if you disagree, you should be polite in human to human communication.

Introduce yourself with 10 acts you've seen live: AC/DC Bjørk Die Ärzte Fehlfarben Iron Maiden Motörhead Pearl Jam Sheryl Crow Van Halen ZZ Top and many more from my "festival years" (mainly Roskilde in the 90s).

I don't hate AI. I hate what people did to me because of AI. And I hate what the AI company people do to creators etc. with consuming all kind of media, for which we had to pay millions if we had downloaded only one of such files from the internet. It took me some time to distinguish this.

Nazis should not be welcomed. There is no point in talking to Nazis because they are wrong.

Just because I comment, like or share content on W doesn’t mean I endorse a particular political position. I want W to be a place for open, fair and unbiased debate where different perspectives can be heard and challenged. Everyone is welcome on W. We need more dialogue and less polarization.❤️
