Getting close to a working Astro+Payload starter setup. Static build with SSR islands. If I get this to work well and is usable as a starter template for new projects without any setup issues, it's byebye WP for good.

Such a weird thing, registering to vote. Being a citizen should be enough.

If you live in Louisiana, go check your voter registration. Even if you already checked. This morning mine was fine. Just now I was showing someone how to check and it had changed me to inactive. So they are changing people to inactive as recently as this afternoon.

The job search kanban app is coming along. Without any international job listing apis it will have to be a purely swedish service. Are there any out there?

To say that I am "reading" Walden is less accurate than saying that I am looking at the words in sequential order, occasionally managing to connect them into coherent concepts. #booksky

22 Cells in Nuremberg (Douglas Kelley) is a real fly-on-the-wall experience. As important reading today as it was 70+ years ago, if not more so. #booksky

When I was laid off and needed to find a new job ASAP I went into full project manager mode. Set up a kanban board with potential jobs, applied for, interview booked, status etc. I'm tinkering with something similar, combined with the swedish employment service job bank api. Fun! #webdev

Designing in the browser (and visually managing your DS more broadly) with @sugarcube.sh is getting closer and closer. Fun thing to know: the panel and controls are defined in your config. Think of how dat gui or lil gui work with bindings. Similar principle.

There's a notice board down by the local grocery store. Every time I'm there I play the game "count-the-AI-generated-posters". There were 5 today. I wonder if they really don't notice when they put them up that there are multiple others that look EXACTLY the same.

I am tossed back and forth between 1. being so fed up with the state of the web and the world, I just want to move to our homestead and become an arborist full time. and 2. feeling super excited to build clean, hand-coded things that work super well for everyone.

The web is just documents. Just text interpreted by a browser. It shouldn't be so fekkin complicated. Hate build tools, compiling, docker containers, makefiles, configs. If it's possible to build it simpler. Build it simpler.

I've read two books in a row where the description of the location is so spot on, my mental image of the places matched 100% when I saw pictures of the actual places that inspired the books. Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres and Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy. Both A+ books! #booksky

Youtube channel idea: slow-paced videos of doing chores around the homestead. Digging, planting, harvesting, cutting and stacking firewood etc. No narration, only sounds of the squeaking wheelbarrow, firewood being stacked, birds, wind...

Good, but should also ban the production of more products than a company will reasonably be able to sell.

"Starting July 19, 2026, the European Union officially banned large fashion companies from destroying unsold clothes, shoes, and accessories. Instead of sending perfectly good products to landfills or burning them, companies must now donate, recycle, or repurpose them." via No one Cares

37 today. Weekend spent at spa. Now wife is trying to upstage the hotel's three course dinner while we listen to Taylor Swift. I'm happy!

I see this more and more. I feel the same. Haven’t come home excited to show the family what I’ve made in a loong time.

I don't like how tech news that used to get me excited doesn't anymore. I miss when computers were fun.

I rarely listen to music. I just put on the Garden State soundtrack and holy shit it takes me back. What a collection of amazing songs. Thanks Zach Braff and The Shins!

Glory! Thanks for this great update!

I'm normally cooked by Friday so I try to work on @sugarcube.sh. Today I was able to wrap up a feature that @finell.dev has been requesting for a while: *non-JIT utility class generation*. Thanks @finell.dev for the idea 🙏 I'll be using this one in some client work. Read about it in the docs!

On the one hand, being sent away to watch the kids go swimming is a pretty chill task. On the other, I am dodging grocery duty and I have two lives to keep from un-aliving themselves.

Not following many ppl in the 59°N area, everyone on here seems to be melting and I'm here working from the patio in a nice 21°C breeze and partial cloud cover. 😅

Current personal project: WordPress starter theme using @sugarcube.sh, combined with a custom block plugin "Every Layout Blocks". Could be a solid setup for building pages! #everylayout #wordpress #webdev

Saw E.T. with daughter last night. First time since childhood. Had a thought: The absentee dad seems like a douche/racist. Leaves his obviously liberal (immediately accepts an alien into their home) family for some other woman. And come on, who *hates* Mexico?

Decisions. One massive wp theme with all of the theme stuff AND functionality of the site. OR theme-related stuff in the theme and one massive plugin with all of the functionality of the site. OR many little plugins that handle specific things. Hmm... #webdev #wordpress

Just got an idea for a browser extension for myself. When it detects a certain unreasonable number of pixels scrolled it should save a cookie that redirects away from that domain to a random wikipedia article for a certain period of time. or something like that.

To get this dinosaur of a laptop to work, I need the cord that connects this adapter to the outlet. I know nothing of electronics. Can anyone help? #itsupport

Bad UX of the day: Which one of these is selected? Yes/No-buttons on an newsletter unsubscribe page with the question "Do you want e-mails from us?". #a11y #webdev #ux
