IMO simulation based power analysis is the gold standard here -- not because it's better or more accurate (though often...), but because doing it requires knowing enough about the phenomenon you're studying to be able to plug in values that are even remotely reasonable in the first place!
I've updated simulations of performance of various methods for estimating S(t|x) vs. continuous x with right censoring. The new loess method is a winner. fharrell.com/post/kmove #Statistics

Nice paper about ordinal regression and why computing sample means on ordinal data is usually a good idea. #StatsSky #Statistics
At a basic level, I think this depends on what you care about. If you want quick pubs for a grade or a promotion, just do t-tests. If you are interested in your data, learn how to fit and interpret ordinal models.

Excellent @nathanihoff.bsky.social - not only are doubly robust procedures' confidence intervals not robust but point estimates may not be worth the effort. Hope you can compare w/ flexible semiparametric models, which give further advantages to one-step modeling approaches. fharrell.com/post/cpm
My paper "Double robust, flexible adjustment methods for causal inference: An overview and an evaluation" is out in Social Science Research. Spoiler: In simulations, double robustness appears less important than flexibility, and OLS does pretty well! 🧵👇 1/7 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

The gold standard for producing PDF documents (especially books and journal articles) has been LaTeX. @typst.app re-engineered the entire process in an incredibly elegant extensible way. On my MacOS LaTeX (TexLive) takes 9.1GB of disk space. Typst takes 43MB. Not a misprint.

A rapidly increasing number of published articles rely on analyses produced via the TriNetX platform. However, TriNetX users don’t get full access to the information in the platform, muddying the truthfulness of any analyses of the data and compromising the integrity statements offered by authors.
1/2 This is cool! The main reason that html is not a complete solution (and why the R tinytable package is also important) are that pdf is required for (1) manuscript submission to journals and book publishers (2) documents sent to government agencies, e.g. #Statistics appendices for FDA. #RStats
I just came back from summer vacation, and would like to announce a tiny new R package I developed recently: {lt} yihui.org/en/2026/07/l...
2/2 Yihui made two other great points: The dependencies required for gt are embarrassing, and we need to quit using LaTeX in favor of @typst.app . Note that the #RStats tinytable package has NO dependencies and outputs html, LaTeX, and typst.
