I've been using this screen name for decades. The current political climate is NOT HELPING.

Honestly believe he's just trying to recapture the glory days of Gulf of Mexico. He's desperately trying to own the libs, knows nicknaming used to be his superpower, and with Lake Ontario mostly coming and going he's desperate to pick a fight. He's going to hate how few people care.

Justin Hendrix@justinhendrix.bsky.social

United States President Donald Trump issues executive order instructing federal government agencies to "use the terms 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' in place of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' and will not acknowledge the usage of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in any applicable setting."

"will not be going to be"...? Is Natalie feeling okay? If Trump ever has another lucid moment and reads this, he's not going to be happy about how poorly-spoken he sounds.

TrumpReposter@trumpreposter.bsky.social

(1/2) Scott Bessent will not be going to be Super Intelligence (SI) Czar. Number One, he doesn’t want to. Number Two, he’s doing such a great job at Treasury, and that’s where I want to keep him! Why would I ever make such a change? Just more Fake News! President DONALD J.

I'm in the middle of playing Talos Principle 2 so at first I thought not bad--robots seem cool, city has some power issues but seems like a nice place, no war or crime or anything. But absolutely no real food production bc all robots so I'd have to figure out how to be a farmer if I wanted to eat.

Watching Leavitt and Trump chuckle about the 20Billion dollar lawsuit and doxxing a reporter's home address, only to have the award recipients line up to shake his had is just so gross. I'm just assuming everyone who 'couldn't make it' came down with a case of self-respect.

I thought I'd be able to survive Platner Discourse by being grateful I didn't have to navigate the shit decision it looks like people in Maine will be stuck with in November. I am not prepared for the amount of trying to insist there was nothing wrong with his behavior going on right now.

Extended power outage led to me spending the day reading mysteries, and The Seven (and a Half, bc USA) Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle was a complete and total trip of a time-loop whodunnit. Bummed that the Netflix adaptation was cancelled, but honestly cannot believe this book isn't a video game yet.

Finished Pragmata; I had a really good time. While the internet is Being Weird about it the game is really just wholesome. Very competently done, a plot that is EXACTLY what you expect at every step, likable characters, neat hacking mechanic. Add it to the pile of comfort food games.

So this Trump speech has Trump talking about this proving they 'need' the ballroom, and ends with Trump basically announcing a 'bigger and better' WHCA dinner coming in the next 30 days. The association really just going to look like the admin's lackies at this point.

This is entirely beside the point, but I hate so much the proliferation of 'POV: ' things that are not, in fact, POV. THIS ISN'T FROM THE SEA LION'S POV. THIS IS FROM THE POV OF A HUMAN LOOKING AT THE SEA LION. THIS IS AN 'IN THIS PICTURE: '

These big boys are driving up food costs for families by gorging on salmon. I’m doing something about it tinyurl.com/mr27j4nz

In terms of food posting, the one thing I've learned in my 40s that I wish I knew in my 20s: Rice cookers don't explode if you put more than rice in 'em. I am incredibly lazy and being able to make a passable take on gyudon or bibimbap in a single pot where I just push 'cook' is too much power.

So downside, he didn't announce the end of the war. Upside, this wasn't a GOTCHA! SURPRISE! BOOTS ON THE GROUND! speech. It, like so much of 2026 Trump, was just kind of stupid, weak, and full of lies.

I'm not surprised it's happening but I am kind of surprised it's not being wrapped up in some big initiative as cover.

U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT IS USING FUNDS FOR INTERNATIONAL DISASTERS AND PEACEKEEPING TO GIVE $1.25 BILLION IN FOREIGN AID TO TRUMP’S BOARD OF PEACE - SEMAFOR.

The sad thing is that this is probably Trump's actual plan--Big military op, declare victory, the end. He's flat out not smart or informed enough to realize the situations are materially different, Israel doesn't want the same thing, and he's going to get a lot of people killed for his idiocy.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Bret Baier on a call he just had with Trump: "He said there is a plan. He points to Venezuela as a template."

In the world After All This, Anthropic telling the DoD to eat shit now would be very forward-thinking. Now is a really good time for companies to start separating themselves from Trump and whoever does it first will stand out. Wouldn't make me like Anthropic, but it would be amazing PR.

A Frogs Gent@frogsgent.bsky.social

The fight is lost, man. If you unfollowed everyone on here who’s still active in Erebonia you’d have very few people left to follow. And Liberl has some responsibility for becoming such a hostile and unserious space that working Bracers have no particular reason to engage with it.

Beat Pathologic 3 today; excellent game and enough to get me interested in going back to Pathologic 2. Also pretty impressive how persistent some choices are through time travel--I spent a while trying to savehack the cursed street away and couldn't. Will need to do another run later to fix that.

Trump is going to be so mad about this when Fox News explains it to him.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

wow -- with Trump standing behind him, a man (not sure who he is) offers this prayer: "We pray that he would be mindful of the poor and that he would be invested in the alleviation of suffering happening in the families preparing to bury their loved ones in Minneapolis."

Is someone trying to primary Rick Larsen? I live in his district and would maybe like it to not be his district any longer.

Qasim Rashid, Esq.@qasimrashid.com

21 Republicans voted against the funding bill. If Democrats were a united block it would have failed and DHS would NOT have been funded. But these 21 corporate Democrats, including my corrupt congressman @repbillfoster.bsky.social happily voted with the MAGA Trump agenda, and the vote passed.

Just watched a coworker try to mic-drop an internal style consistency debate (how to name some columns) by copy-pasting a 'quick Copilot check' defending his side. I was just an observer, which is probably good because the extent to which I would have flipped out. Copilot doesn't know our system!

"For example, Iceland, without tariffs they wouldn't even be talking to us about it." I... I think Trump just forgot he was trying to take over Greenland. He is ABSOLUTELY planning to rename it to Trumpland.

Somebody finally gave Trump a list of all the wars he's solved; I tuned in partway through, but he's reading them off and bragging about how Putin couldn't believe he's settled the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which someone has taught him to pronounce.

He's literally going to make his own peace prize with, presumably, blackjack and hookers and a definition of peace that includes blowing up anyone you don't like. I know the 'money doesn't buy happiness' cliche is dumb in a lot of ways, but between this guy and Elon just... jfc.

(1/2) It is my Great Honor to announce that THE BOARD OF PEACE has been formed. The Members of the Board will be announced shortly, but I can say with certainty that it is the Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place. Thank you for your

Beat The Drifter today. Neat little point-and-click time loop game; retro pixel graphics but surprisingly solid voice acting. Story holds together well enough; not life-changing but a solid relatively short experience.

I want to give a bunch of answers (nobody naming The Shield hurts) but if I have choose one: Babylon 5. Sleeping in Light is a fantastic series finale, and one you can believe was planned day one--they made it a season early fearing the show wouldn't get to finish, yet it still works at the end.

Astreia@redoubters.bsky.social

Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show: What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

Distracting myself from remembering the significance of January 6th by gathering the personal contact information of coworkers as we're all pretty sure some of us are going to get laid off in the coming weeks and the people making the decisions have no idea who's useful and not.

Going to try to track every game I beat in 2026. New Year's Day I played through Crow Country from end to end, ultimately in the 'I am a wuss please don't attack me' mode. It's a neat little retro Survival Horror game with a fairly clear story; nothing revelatory but a nice little experience.

Trump threatened a second wave if Marduro's VP didn't play ball. She currently appears to be refusing to play ball. I have to assume they thought she'd at least pretend a little, because Trump's second wave won't have the 'law enforcement' excuse to leave Congress out of military action. So dumb.

If "we're" running Venezuela, what does that do to Miller's wet dream of using the AEA against Venezuelans in the US? Like if the argument was that Tren de Aragua was an arm of the Maduro government I feel like taking that government should... do something? Maybe?

Our idiot mad king is okaying kidnappings now based on some bullshit he just made up. I want to hope other countries will sanction the shit out of us for this, but I can't expect them to. Every single part of our system that should have stopped this failed. It's just all so fucking stupid.

I keep trying to have any other answer to this, but I can't. While some Discworld has been adapted, nobody has touched Tiffany Aching for live action so... Give me a big-budget Tiffany Aching series. Five seasons, one per book, massive budget. Do the Feegles right.

AkivaMCohen@akivamcohen.bsky.social

OK, less contentious post: You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking? For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

It doesn't counterbalance the rest of the shit we're dealing with right now, but I can't say I'm not a little happy SCOTUS is pissing in Trump's cornflakes for Christmas. Let this be the first of many adverse rulings (tariffs next, please.)

FinTwitter@fintwitter.bsky.social

SCOTUS rejects Trump over deployment of National Guard to aid immigration enforcement in Illinois, says law limits use to when regular military is insufficient

One of the side effects of Trump's deployments that doesn't get talked about a lot--it's decreasing trust in the Guard nationwide, and means when the Guard is called in to help people will need additional assurances that it's not a trap.

Gov. Bob Ferguson@governorferguson.bsky.social

If you see National Guard service members out in our communities, they're here to keep Washingtonians safe. I deeply appreciate the work they're doing.

First half of Stranger Things Season 5 was a decent amount of fun. Hard to say much else about it without spoilers, but it really does feel like they're trying to put a respectable (if, as always, slightly nostagia-cheesey) cap on things, and I do think this half-season stops at a sensible point.

Darth hibernation season directly means a decrease in the number of cute dogs on my timeline, which is awful, but also I'm just really jealous of getting to hibernate through whatever the next few months bring.

darth™️@darthbluesky.bsky.social

ok it is time for me to hibernate for the season i am thankful for all of u keeping me company here on the blue sky during this year be well

Going to have a quiet Thanksgiving and, since I'm not a big cooker and don't need a whole-ass turkey for me and a parent, have tried buying Costco's Thanksgiving dinner thing. It's... a surprising amount of food for $35.

Mamdani is so good at this Trump didn't even rage out at a reporter. It really does highlight that Trump sucks but the full level of harm he's reached is because he's surrounded by people amplifying his worst traits for their own purposes.

Exact opposite of the message the Comey prosecution was supposed to send; instead of "Cross me and I'll make your life hell!" it's turning into "Cross me and I'll repeatedly trip over my own feet and land bare-ass-up in public! Just see if I won't!"

Harry Litman@harrylitman.bsky.social

HUGE development IN hearing for Comey selective prosecution motion, It turns out that the grand jury NEVER saw the operative indictment. Whole separate basis for dismissal. Standby for more.
