I played betas for two upcoming deduction/mystery games this week and I have to say, there's some amazing stuff coming out in the near future. We are just beginning to tap the potential of this game genre.

Are you ever just in awe of a piece of art and think “wow I’ll never be able to create something that good no matter how hard I try” anyway I just saw Now You Can See Everything

I gotta wonder if Bioware didn't try to do TWO huge live service games (Veilguard backpedalled at great cost) would they still be here today? I think they might be. I hate the interminable greed of executives and corporations.

Yo. @kenney.nl has done more to support up and coming devs, empower non artists and people starting out with accessible tech than any other single person I’ve encountered. Just wanted to throw that out there for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

This is a good reason to buy Deductopia. Another reason is that it’s a really good game!

To get personal for a moment: Losing my house set Deductopia back a full year. But settlements won't compensate me because I can't prove that Deductopia would have made money. Buying Deductopia when it comes out will help prove my job is real work. store.steampowered.com/app/4429720/...

We'll DM you a Steam code for The Incident At Galley House (from the creators of The Roottrees are Dead, Overwhelmingly Positive reviews) if you're a new MinnMax Patreon supporter at the $5 tier! www.patreon.com/c/minnmax - Offer ends 10/19/26 - We'll delete this post if we run out of codes

At a prior job, a competitor bragged about being faster than us when they had 1/10th of the features. It's easy to be faster when you do significantly less!

I was 42 when I decided to learn game development. We shipped The Roottrees Are Dead when I was 45 and it changed my life.

The Incident at Galley House recently passed 100k copies sold! Thanks so much all the detectives out there who spread the word 🕵️‍♀️

I'm going to be at this event in my hometown of Toronto in October. Come by, and let's discuss puzzle and mystery games!

The Resident Evil movie is so hilarious and gory. It feels more like playing the game with your buddies than a serious take on the lore. Loved it.

It's now been 𝟮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 since I started Dev Dive- so it's time to celebrate! 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘀: 104 games covered 123 interviews featuring 155 developers Covering the stories of talented creatives is the proudest work of my life. Dev Dive is almost at 1,000 subs, thanks for the support!

Rolled credits on Big Walk. It’s one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had and almost certainly going to be my GOTY. Sublime.

Back in the day, when you pressed a button on a remote control it changed channels instantly. Now, you gotta navigate a labyrinth of menus where each button press takes a second. It's a horrible user experience and everyone... just puts up with it?

Blizzard was using a product I worked on in the past, so I went down to Irvine a bunch. Once, at a group lunch, someone mentioned the way corporate treated them unfairly and I said "What about a union?" and suddenly it got totally quiet. Someone said "You can't say that word." It was super awkward!

Chris Kerr@kerrblimey.bsky.social

BREAKING: Blizzard union workers have ratified a historic contract that has secured guardrails around AI usage, layoff protections, remote/hybrid work benefits, and much more.

The Galley House team is headed to Denmark right now instead of the US for our summit. I can’t support these insane tariffs or threats to annex my country. 🇨🇦

This was a really fun interview! I hope you enjoy it.

I get very excited about new gadgets like phones and computers, but arguably the piece of tech that has most improved my life in the last decade is a bidet. I can’t believe they’re not standard in every bathroom!

I watched this excellent video over the weekend about King's Quest IV, and I was dumbstruck by how much randomness this game has involving necessary puzzles. It also asks bonkers things of the player, like to swim out into the ocean aimlessly to find an island that's not hinted at.

OneShortEye@oneshorteye.bsky.social

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern, I'll be premiering my King's Quest IV video. It's almost an hour and a half long! I guarantee you'll learn something new. Link will go up a couple hours beforehand.

The early King's Quest games are meant to be fairy tales, but I think they have more in common with the dark fantasy of Souls games. The worlds are big and empty, mostly filled with player-punishing enemies. Take the wrong path? Death. Why is the castle empty except Graham and the King?
