Volume 2 of Last War in Albion is now available in print. The story of how Watchmen set off a magical war for the soul of Britain. Also featuring The Cuddled Little Vice, my Hugo-nominated history of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. Written for neophytes and deep fans alike. www.amazon.com/Last-War-Alb...

I hate scented hand soap. Why would I want to smell like Softsoap’s idea of a fresh breeze, when I could smell like Copper as imagined by Comme des Garcons?

And the fascinating inverse, perhaps best captured by Jane Schoenbrun, movies where everyone is horny enough that it stops being a horror flick.

Random critical take: it’s not that there’s nothing good about “Lightning Crashes”; it’s just that the good bit is the guitar riff they nick from “Take a Chance on Me.”

The plus-size mantra: Torrid in the streets, Cacique in the sheets.

A classic of “conspiracy theories are usually people accusing other people of what they’d have done” from the lab leak crowd.

I recall hearing a news story in the '90s about a sect (Unitarian?) including the Muppet song "It's Not Easy Bein' Green" in its hymnal. I can't find any actual reference to this happening, and am probably misremembering. But does anyone here know what I'm referencing? Does anyone else recall this?

We are back online.

I mean, bitter estranged parents are pretty much the Republican base these days so this makes sense.

The important swing voter is not someone who’s on the fence about whether they want fascism or health care, it’s someone who’s on the fence about whether they want fascism enough to go vote this time.

Phil Ochs was right.

ICYMI, my efforts to render Blake readable have hit the weird/cool shit.

This is perfectly reasonable provided that the government is then allowed to dig a trench across the right of way leading to your driveway, disconnect all your utilities, and sit idly while your house burns.

The key difference between Elizabeth Holmes and Elon Musk is that Holmes cost many in the ruling class a lot of money and Musk is making many in the ruling class a lot of money.

As oddly threatening as it was false.

Legit weird to see paragraphs like this on mainstream normie media sites. (From talkingpointsmemo.com/minipost/the...)

I apparently missed this, but it’s now thrice.

Just sent Patrons the commentary on The Book of Thel, the first of William Blake's illuminated books to explore his bespoke mythology. www.patreon.com/elizabethsan...

Again: everybody knows this isn't true. It's not a truth claim. It's an expression of genocidal animus. The obvious falsity of the assertion expresses the degree of hatred. Publicly acceding to such patent nonsense signals one's membership of the club, one's willingness to assent to mass murder.

An original Blake.

A book about how a mutant variant of Scientology came to magically reshape the end of the 20th century, and also comic books.

I don't think LLMs are conscious because I know (roughly) how they work and that work doesn't require consciousness, and there's no reason to think consciousness would be an emergent property of the software, any more than it would for, say, Microsoft Word, which no one thinks is conscious.

The same bozos who thought putting refrigerators on the Internet was a good idea are now trying to sell you on AI assistants.

An excellent time to be a small indie creator who bet in the opposite direction.

At long and thrilling last, I'm back on the Blake beat, where I've reached the first of what's widely recognized as one of Blake's prophetic works, the enigmatic Tiriel. www.patreon.com/elizabethsan...

Given that the average length of ownership for Warner Bros over the past four decades is nine years, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that they’ll do it by fucking up and then selling the company again.
