For nearly two decades I have been teaching that stars come in several colors, but never green. The reason for this is partly how stars give off light, and partly how our eyes perceive light. This new study from a team at the U of Warwick shows that white dwarf stars *can*, very rarely, be green!

My Etsy shop is open again! I make gemstone and wire jewelry and art inspired by space. Every piece is one-of-a-kind and handmade by me. I'm busily restocking the shop; and I'm happy to make custom pieces. Check it out at elakdawalla.etsy.com
Any details on the JUICE flyby of Earth coming up later this month? Where is the best place to follow along? @science.esa.int

Much of the Expedition 74 crew is getting a nice, relaxing long weekend in space ahead of a busy Monday and Tuesday. Don't forget to tune in and watch some Canadarm2 maintenance on Tuesday! Spacewalk begins about 8:30am EDT / 12:30pm UTC
I don't know exactly how long I've been reading @philplait.bsky.social musing about the universe, but it's surely closing in on two decades Yet he can still make me feel like a vanishingly tiny speck in the cosmos! Absolutely worth subscribing for tri-weekly doses of space-related awesomeness
An incoming El Niño should result in a slightly below-average 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, which starts today. Nevertheless, it's good to check your preparedness and emergency kit if you live in a coastal area!
Thousands of new Artemis II photos! Amaze amaze amaze! Check them out in this neat viewer/poll and help determine which ones will grace the header of millions of articles for the next decade. #artemisII
NASA just dropped 12,000 photos from the Artemis II mission. Too many to add to ArtemisTimeline.com, so I just put up a tool at ArtemisTimeline.com/vote so that people can vote on small batches allowing for all of the images to be sorted! (yes, I posted this before, but I had to fix something!)
I love studies linking infrasound to paranormal nonsense. You can't hear it, but it does stress you out!
