Last night, this PAC reported a $90k contribution from United for Portland Action Fund. Their first transaction was reported 9/25, while the PAC itself filed for formation on 9/28 (all info on ORESTAR) More trouble for Jon Isaacs and his wealthy handlers!

Willamette Week@wweek.com

Business and labor groups this week launched a political action committee backing moderate candidates running for the Portland City Council and Multnomah County Chair.

Another PAC to back "moderates" on Portland City Council. A PAC is just a folder on someone's desktop and a bank account. It doesn't represent people, just money. The business lobbyists who were used to owning city council are desperate to go back to that. We can't let them.

Watching @councilorgreen.bsky.social speak on the Fair Share Tax Ordinance. Impossible to overstate the value of having someone on council who understands economic issues and uses that understanding to advocate for the people rather than owners of capital.

Nothing will be lost when we dump this fool

Portland Mercury@portlandmercury.com

Dan Ryan is under a court order not to delete messages from his personal phone, which may contain public records. In court documents, Ryan said he no longer has the phone he's been using, because his spouse traded it in the same day a judge barred him from deleting records. He says nothing was lost.

"Other violations, like obscuring the original sources of the funds, could be charged as a Class C felony. That can carry up to $125,000 fine and up to five years in prison. The penalties could ensnare each individual associated with the committees, as well as the committees themselves."

At its core, our proposal is a tax on inequality, which is a scourge to us all - rich and poor. Inequality in income and wealth is a drag on our economy. We can and should tax the very corporations that cause it and use those proceeds to level the playing field and fund our services.

Drazan, i know you’re reading this, so i want you to know you’re a disgrace and should drop out of the race immediately. you have no honor and every Portlander thinks you’re a hateful MAGA transphobe who should slink away from public life forever.

The Metro Chamber is targeting me because my office has successfully defended their attacks related to Preschool for All, Portland Street Response, Moda, Zenith, Harborton, Clean and Safe, and more. They’re scared, I’m not, and the people are onto them. Their dirty tricks won’t work anymore.

The last time Preschool for All was under attack commissioners ended up crying on the dais bc the community response was so strong. And yet it continues to be undermined. Not doing just a bit here: my office will be moving forward with some oversight on this. Here’s why: fundamentally, we changed our form of government to move away from backroom dealing on matters of public interest. Using code names for recurring meetings like this runs counter to transparency.

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

Changing the name of my staff meeting to Project Oversight “Top city officials have held a weekly “Project Mt. Hood” meeting since at least early November focused on a taxpayer funded renovation of the Moda Center, currently estimated at $600 million, according to a review of public calendars.”

when we go to 2-k in multnomah, we're doing it by first raising the wages. just like we did with preschool. no program should be built by exploiting the workforce, ever, and voters agree with this!

Ppl who don’t want local politicians to talk about international politics crack me up because U.S. imperialism means we’ll ALWAYS be taking in refugees. You can’t destabilize someone’s homeland, then be surprised when they have to come to the core of global power to be safe. An abusive relationship

Fat cats and big wigs are so mad about Preschool for All. They scream into their pillows and cry themselves to sleep every night because we passed a good policy for once. We cannot let them destroy it

Did anyone else get a truly ridiculous push-poll testing anti-Preschool For All messaging? 🎩💰 Let's take a look at what our opposition is cooking! 👀 First up: means-testing. A classic method to minimize public support for programs to then under-fund them more easily!

Great reporting and a good opportunity to reup for the public that my office has produced a series of reports, documents and letters that makes the economic case for why it's such a crucial program, while debunking claims or intimations that the tax was driving people out of the county.

The county has limited data about who’s paying its Preschool for All tax, which only went into effect in 2021. Still, some seized on a 14% dip in high-income filers between 2021 and ‘22 to suggest the tax drove wealthy ppl away. New data complicates that narrative.

It is very hard to stop lying about the rich moving away because of a tiny tax when your job depends on people believing that bs

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Eric reposted

Abolish ICE, prosecute and imprison its leaders, impeach and remove the President from office. This is the only sane reaction to a group of armed men kidnapping and gunning down our neighbors in the street.

As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

Reminder: the GOP DIDN'T HAVE the votes to fund DHS yesterday. The only reason they got the funding was because these seven Democrats handed it to them on a silver platter.

Joshua Reed Eakle 🗽@joshuaeakle.com

DHS is murdering American citizens. Abducting children. Violating the 4th Amendment. Posting White Nationalist propaganda. And these seven Dems just voted to give them $65B to fund their reign of terror against our cities. Throw them out of Congress. Throw them out of the Democratic Party.

Waking up to the news that the US has bombed Venezuela, kidnapped its president, and will now seek to decide its fate (i.e. “liberate” its natural resources). We don’t have money for basic infrastructure in our local communities, but we can always start new wars? Absolutely sickening.
