This is your Ace Week reminder that ace ppl both read & write romance!
I make a point of representing diff. experiences of attraction in my books, bc while sex-repulsed ace ppl exist, there are also lots who want relationships, but don't know what that can look like

Auckland has much I loveβof course the one I love the most, my wife.
Ocean ferries. City rail. Urban forests. Beaches. Gluten-free bakery. Record stores. Mystic bookshops. Daring birds. Old and new buildings side by side. Graffiti. Murals. People speaking many languages. Queer folks holding hands.
Her t-shirt with a 2,000 word essay on it about being brave and brilliant and not evil has people asking a lot of questions not adequately answered in the essay

I do not want to always be fierce. I do not want to always be on high-alert in any medical situation. I do not want to have to scan the news for articles about people like me.
I just want to live a simple life.
Thankful this morning for peer medical support, like the kind available for things like trans health care, perimenopause, and chronic pain. π People helping each other with lived experience and a wealth of research wisdom.
In week 2 of a 7 week online class that has a lot of other trans people (both binary and non-binary), and it feels so good. I love it when I get to do stuff like this. π₯°
Holy shit this album is good. You got your hair flying thrash, you got some rhythm fuckery, you got an absolute crushing ripper of a title track (Ruby, I hope you're especially proud of that one!)
Then you have a moment of reflection to remind us push through.
Hell to the yes.

just occurred to me that I think part of the reason I almost always seem to include some kind of romance element in otherwise very speculative plots is that the question 'what's it like to fall in love in times like these' really compels me
it's humanizing in big cold worlds, it escalates stakes

Always internalising/reminding myself of this.
"Cynicism is not a shortcut to truth."
And, negativity also isn't necessarily being truthful, wise, or more aware.
Negativity can be a veneer that allows for bypassing and avoiding healing. An echo chamber we get stuck in and perpetuate for others.
Nearly 24,000 words in on the sci-fi novel, so I'm hoping to release this early 2027. Perhaps in time for my birthday?
Editing another project.
Finalising something we'll put out in a few months.
And 1/2 way through a super secret Prismata project that will surprise you!
Hehehehehe!!!
"Now I've made that hot for you, and you have to deal with it!"
Amazing convo with another author here in New Zealand, Jamie Sands! He writes everything from warm contemporary MM romance to scorchingly hot supernatural pirate frolics!
You'll love this!

Also, shared with her the most disturbing lore about Cid. He is fucking THIRTY-FOUR.
And don't tell me the Calamity aged him because Thancred is TWO YEARS younger than him!!
This was really cute. Made by two actual girlfriends with a bunch of vignette chapters about their life together after one moves 1,000 km to live with the other. Will definitely keep reading!
Good morning! Welcome to Friday, the gateway to the weekend.
The world is on fire, and we must abide. Make art, love yourself and others, and take care of those same people (YOU INCLUDED!).

My endless thanks to the incredible teams of SPSFC judges, to my readers, and to everyone else who helped my strange debut novel find its place. This is beyond surreal. Thank you, thank you, thank you. π

Nearing the half-way mark on the dark sci-fi novel I started months ago. It's an exploration of loss of home and selfβrunning on autopilot (like your ship) for far too long, and then what happens when circumstances mean you can no longer hide out alone. (Naturally, w/ lesbians and trans MCs.)
