Daphne du Maurier's original story is about a family facing a horrifying threat where even children leaving school are in danger. Government officials promise a plan to cope but then never deliver leaving them alone against the menace but there's no way that story would be relevant in 2026.

HBO is officially developing ‘THE BIRDS’, a new series inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film. Starring Sarah Snook, the series is a modern-day reimagining of the film set in Alaska with a murder mystery at the center. (Source: Deadline)

Trump's weird bruises make some think he's falling over now. It'll happen on camera soon. Which won't be funny no matter how karmic but what WILL BE FUNNY is Marco Rubio subsequently falling over every time he takes a half a dozen steps.

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

Wrote my favorite Land of the Lost episode, too. The first time SF blew my mind as a child, in fact.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

look, nothing is simple and i have no parsimonious explanation for anything here, but a student protest movement, focused on corruption & authoritarianism, just won a major european election. a big deal.

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

I dunno what 1986 me thought 2026 would be like but it sure wasn't this. 2001 me had soul-sucking vampires running the world playing us off against each other by dangling brass rings in front of our noses so well-done Eric, I guess.

My horror squad. I'm going with the classic investigator/soldier/transport/leader setup. Making Grace the leader because she's worked food service which means quick decisions under pressure and experience with getting difficult personalities to do their damn jobs.

Why are *bike lanes* such an issue with these people? Do they just live to whine and complain their lives away? What a miserable existence.

I'm a big fan of Scranton PA's own Cynthia Rothrock. Even when a movie she's in is dumb, she shines. And I think I came up with a good description of her default character: she's Bruce Lee crossed with Cindy Lauper.

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

And our headline of the day comes from Rolling Stone: "The Last Tour for Our Horny, Mad King" "Donald Trump has spent his midterm campaign stops talking about hot male bodies. It only gets weirder from there"

I love Father Goose. I'm up for it any time. Secret bonus to it is Trevor Howard doing all his comic lines as serious as a heart attack, which somehow makes them funnier.

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

Even within our own crowd, Hillary Clinton can be a somewhat polarizing figure... Say what you want, but she was sadly prescient about two main points: 1. Trump would indeed become "Putin's puppet" and bend to his every wish. 2. Trump supporters are indeed as deplorable as they come. Spot-on.
