Europe's waters are under massive pressure 🐟☠️ Yet @ec.europa.eu is proposing new manure loopholes for intensive livestock farming in nitrate-polluted regions 💧🏭🐮 Ignoring its own evidence will wave through more pollution, kill ecosystems and risk our drinking water 🚨 What happened to due process?

📱 Europe is buying more electronics than ever. But what happens when they break? In 2024, 14.6 million tonnes of electronics entered the EU, up 91% since 2012. But only 5.5 million tonnes of e-waste were collected. And of what was collected, less than 2% was prepared for reuse❗ #EwasteDay

When e-waste is thrown away with general rubbish it can release toxic pollutants, trigger battery fires That’s why we’re calling for: ♻️ Binding prevention and reuse targets 🔧 Producer-funded repair and reuse 📍 Access to collection points for reuse operators Read more: eeb.org/en/europes-g...

Droughts, fires, extreme heat, and billions in crop loss 🚨 That's what Europe’s farmers suffered through this summer. We can’t go on like this. As EU leaders shape the framework for post-2030 #ClimateAction, we explain how our food and farming system can and should play a role tinyurl.com/38jp8z9r

🚜 For every €100 spent on food, farmers get €6.90. Meanwhile, 3% of Europe's biggest agribusinesses control over half of EU farmland. 📉 Big Ag and Big Food corporations are squashing farmers, polluting nature, and writing the re-writing the rulebook to enrich themselves. More below ⤵️ #FixingFood

🌿 EU governments promise to protect nature while pushing further budget cuts. Europe faces an €18bn annual funding gap for environmental goals, while €34–48bn in public money goes to activities that harm nature. Our life support needs investment, not cuts. 👉 Read more: eeb.org/en/eu-govern...

Can you tell sustainable products from #greenwashing? New EU rules are making it easier, and so is the #EUEcolabel! The Empowering Consumers Directive bans some misleading marketing tactics and raises the bar for green labels. Now we need governments to enforce it swiftly. 🧵👇

Meanwhile, the #EUEcolabel remains a powerful tool to guide consumers and help the companies offering the greenest products to stand out🌼 And the good news is: the label keeps growing, with the highest level of products and licenses ever recorded📈 Read on: meta.eeb.org/2026/10/08/c... @beuc.eu

Mercury in your face cream? Yes, it still happens, and EU rules must catch up. The European Product Act has been postponed, but a leaked draft points to important progress in closing a major accountability gap: when online marketplaces sell illegal products from outside the EU, who is responsible?

We have pushed for real accountability for years, including for mercury-added skin-lightening creams, which are still being sold across the EU, often by repeat offenders. Last year, a EU-wide customs operation checked around 6,000 cosmetics bought online from outside the EU: 65% were non-compliant.

For a stronger network in a changing Europe 🌍 Last week, we brought together 25+ EEB Leaders in Brussels for our first-ever EEB Leaders Meeting. Across two days, leaders exchanged experiences, discussed challenges facing our movement and explored how we can work together more effectively.

🚨Today, EU ambassadors approved the Council’s position on speeding up environmental assessments. Fast-tracking permits for “strategic” projects risks rushed assessments and public consultation. Now it's time for MEPs to stand up for environmental rules that protect people, communities and nature.

More than 900,000 people across Europe have already signed the #HandsOffNature petition calling on EU governments to protect our nature laws. 📢 Add your voice: tell your policy-makers to prioritise our health and environmental protections over permitting shortcuts: handsoffnature.eu

🏗️ Europe’s clean industrial transition needs a serious push. The Commission’s new public procurement rules put climate and environmental goals more firmly on the agenda. That’s a step forward, but green procurement must be binding and ambitious enough to avoid a race to the bottom.

The answer to Europe’s energy needs isn’t more #FossilFuels, especially projects that lock us in for decades more without solving today's problems. It’s more #renewables everywhere, less energy waste, better-insulated homes, less car dependency and renewable heating now! #climatechange

Beyond the Arctic, polluter pressure are pushing for laws to be weakened to extract and profit. These are changes that will take away our fresh air, clean water, and thriving nature. Help us resist now, sign the Hands Off Nature petition: handsoffnature.eu#take-action #handsoffnature

💧 Europe is losing access to clean water. Tomorrow, EU officials discuss plans that could weaken the Nitrates Directive and allow more manure pollution. Environment & Agriculture Ministers must step in and reject it. Protect our water - no to more pollution! 🚨 Letter to EU Ministers in comments⤵️
