No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

I think one of the positive opportunities of LLMs and automation is to rely more on patterns and guidance than strict building blocks.

The thing that I’ve continuously failed to successfully communicate is an unbridled focus on design system adoption is a one way trip to devolving into a UI library. A design system isn’t a design system if every single edge case/preference is covered. It’s exclusionary by design.

This is a lot easier to miss because we often don’t notice who’s *not* there. This doesn’t just happen in physical spaces, the amount of people who don’t have profiles or have to stay private deprives us all of a lot contributions.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Tech’s complete incomprehension of human experience and motivation is hilarious and terrifying

Would love to have been in the Apple meeting where it was agreed the best thing would be for Xcode 27 to break fit for everyone until we accept the license agreement.

A group of 25 Fields Medalists, including myself, have made a joint declaration on Math and AI: mathandai.org . We welcome additional signatories. See also this article in the Economist announcing the declaration: www.economist.com/science-and-...

More Palestinians have been killed (1,300) since the so-called ceasefire began in Gaza on 10th October 2025 than Israelis were killed on 7th October 2023 - including ten times as many children (300!) as were killed on 10/7. This is what a 'ceasefire' looks like for Palestinians.

that small upward spike there in 2021-22 is like half of what drove the billionaire class completely nuts

BLS this morning, with revised 2Q data: "The labor share, which is the percentage of output that accrues to workers in the form of compensation, was 52.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026, the lowest level in the series, which begins in the first quarter of 1947."

In an honest and just approach to AI, services like Wikimedia and the Internet Archive would be drowning in funding. Instead we have Anthropic and Amazon shredding books.

If Linear isn’t looking into source control and git… they should.

Here's a sneak peak into what I've been working on behinds the scenes at work for the last few months! 👉🏼 www.netlify.com/blog/netlify... I'll also be sharing a technical deep dive on the architectural and scaling work soon. This has unlocked some very interesting future capabilities 👀.

Second, thinking in shearing layers patterns are the furniture. People use and change them around the most. Components and tokens are more like fixtures and plumbing. People notice issue occasionally but don’t change them day to day.

First, we think designers, engineers, and agents should come to the system for help with solutions. And if there is a fully formed solution like a pattern they should see and consider that first.

As I get old it starts to become clear that we romanticise the past mainly because only the good parts of it tend to survive. Older buildings are nicer? We knocked down the shit ones. Music was better back then? You never hear the bad stuff. Nostalgia works through a filter.

Dorian Lynskey@dorianlynskey.bsky.social

I broadly agree with this but it is interesting that both my kids (with no input from me) romanticise the 90s for concrete reasons including a pre-online culture and a sense of optimism about the course of history

Is Soundcloud still the place to upload DJ mixes? Or is it Mixcloud now? Or is someone doing this on ATProto? Sorry, it’s been a minute…

So I noticed Bluesky no longer manages to open at where I left off. It does the same flash and take me to new content thing that other engagement chasing social media does. When did this happen? Anyone know why?

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

Anyone else feel the need to post that they’re definitely doing stuff with design code and AI but have no interest in adding to the general noise?

But the videos had ground truth pixels 🤷🏻‍♂️

404 Media@404media.co

The only plausible response to videos of aliens on television, at this point, would be cries of “that’s AI,” “fake,” and propaganda flowing in all directions.

Interesting that Anthropic seem to be shifting their model names from poetry to… fictional tales? So curious to understand the reasoning behind this, because… deviation from truth would be something I would not be wanting to evoke at this point.

Treating any communication platform that algorithmically selects which content to put in front of a user as a publisher, and legally responsible for that content, is the screamingly obvious solution that will deeply upset maybe seven companies and make life considerably better.

Sam Freedman@samfr.bsky.social

One of the obvious problems with a under-16 social media ban is that it won't work. (60%+ of Australian under-16s are still using these platforms). But it will make people feel like something has been done so they won't tackle the content, which is the real issue.

I have yet to hear a good explanation for what is on social media that’s a problem for teenagers to experience, but fine for adults.

First it made me curious about the relationship between Ferrari fans and Ferrari customers. How different are they? Because most of the people complaining about this will never be able to buy a Ferrari.
