that small upward spike there in 2021-22 is like half of what drove the billionaire class completely nuts

BLS this morning, with revised 2Q data: "The labor share, which is the percentage of output that accrues to workers in the form of compensation, was 52.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026, the lowest level in the series, which begins in the first quarter of 1947."

Since history is just the story of the human animal reacting to stimulus in an archetypical range the overreaction of the Haves w/ the “2nd Gilded” age will see the rise of both more Mamdani’s AND more Mangiones… just like the 1st Gilded age lead to the blood-bought Labor Movements and Trustbusting

and the subsequent collapse in 2025-26 was a principal goal of spending billions to elect Trump. as Carlin said they want more for themselves and less for everybody else

The very idea that the proles might get back to the heady days of the early 2000s. What a horror. There really seems to be something fundamentally broken in people who aspire to hoard so much wealth.

you think to yourself, it can't just be that. It can't actually be "we want what's worst for everyone but ourselves," then you look at the way they actually talk about power and wealth and the supreme court and presidency and no they actually believe it is their God given right to control all.

Absolutely. It’s not enough that they be rich, others must be poor. The higher the relative wealth ratio, the greater their economic and, by extension, political power.

The good employment numbers are based off of most unemployed people not receiving unemployment anymore. Also when people have multiple jobs each job is counted as 1 employed person which inflates the employment rate

Their point is for all the horrendous policy he's conducted in ~2 years back in office, GDP is growing and labor market though slow isn't shedding jobs. We're not in a recession (yet). The momentum of the American economy is such that it takes quite awhile for even an incompetent to crash it.

Are those the only two meaningful measures of a good economy? They might be for economists, I guess, but it doesn't seem reasonable to demand that people evaluate their own lives and economic conditions per the standards set by economists (of all people).

The macro sense is the economy is growing and jobs aren't shrinking. That can contain a multitude of individual stories within it that are no less true. Economists care about the former, politicians the latter.

You're not wrong about the revenge of the bosses in general, but Trump is back in the White House because a lot of average Americans hated inflation and wanted to punish incumbents when that happened. Politically illiterate country.

Just wait until they not just crash but crush the economy because of the debt ratio. I'm sorry I'm probably going to be alive to try & survive it.

I remember that brief time during the Biden admin when workers actually had some juice to request what they were worth. I will go to my grave believing that the billionaire class drove inflation to kill that progress and knew the voters were too stupid to put the blame where it belonged.
