PSA for my writer followers -- so long as you can be chill, if you need writing advice or help, my DMs are open. And I mean like, real advice, don't just tell me "hey I had this idea how's that sound" and I'm down for helping rookies/ameteurs/etc, no matter if we're moots or not.
Why I hate "comfort" language is best described by this woman hearing a story about a child being disciplined for drawing a zombie scene at Halloween and bringing up worries of school shootings. People can be wrong and also act like you're stupid for it. You shouldn't be nice to them.
So the "advice" doled out in this column makes me INCREDIBLY fucking angry as a former kid who was repeatedly taken to task by teachers for "inappropriate" drawings, culminating in a 9th-grade suspension spurred by Columbine paranoia and residual Satanic Panic. Arionne here says that was JUSTIFIED.

Very glad this book isn't a series, the manhunt for Gavin and the prophecy happening at the same time is a fun way to experience the world of Ebberon, but the story isn't really able to support much more than this. I'll be happy when it's wrapped and kept the focus tight all the way through
The more time the passes the more I want to go back to that line in my Darkblade Assassin review that joked "are we SURE this wasn't written by an AI?" and delete it. That book is terrible but it could only come from a human mind.
This article does not discuss one major reason why chocolate in the West got worse - Ghana and Ivory Coast, the two African countries that are the biggest suppliers of cacao globally, got organised and started demanding fair prices for it.

I will never stop being annoying about this book because it is endlessly charming and incredibly sweet genuinely funny and dramatic AND ALSO REALLY HOT, literally everyone should read it. It's not going to win any sort of great American novel contest but it's simple ingredients done expertly well.
I think everyone SHOULD read Ninth House. However I think everyone HAS to read Throne in the Dark. The former is immaculate and brutal in a way that makes you feel alive - Throne, however, immediately shoves you into being a 15 year old girl giggling and rolling around in bed in delight
Coworker lost her gum, and (doing a bit) she asked me why I stole it, so I immediately went into "forgive me, I ate the gum from the ice box, it was so delicious and so cold" and got the blanket look of all time
Extremely funny type of guy is "prison abolitionist communist who keeps getting suspended for saying 'we should just kill people like this.'" I'm not sure you believe and I don't think you do either.
This is worth noting for a lot of people, really. If you're following artists who aren't putting stuff behind paywalls, consider throwing them some tips anyway as a thank-you to ensure they keep making the stuff you like!
like i really just wanna Make Shit and show people and folks who want to see more of it happen will occasionally throw me me like $5. but i want EVERYONE to have it. you know?
[also: this is not a judgement of folks with strict exclusivity. fukkin, do what you gotta do man]
i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment
The worst thing a book can be is a five out of ten and I'm always going to get a big smile on my face at some real incompetent trash that lives its truth boldly, way more so than yet another middling swords-and-sorcery novel that has nothing to say and loves fight scenes.
Me: I don't see any reason to use AI
Slop peddlers: You know how you want to sell books but you hate writing?
Me: No, I love writing. The only reason I care about selling books is so I can afford to write instead of getting a real job
Slop peddlers: Oh. Well... You know how you hate your kids?
Throne in the Dark and Andor are teaching me the best way to make someone charismatic is to have them say something shockingly sincere with utmost confidence and have 0% idea how much that method of communication just melts people's hearts and gets them what they want.
This cat has been impossible his whole life, timid and scared and people avoidant, but he had a urinary blockage and was on sedatives for two weeks and I guess it reset his brain and now I'm his best friend in the world and he'll peep at me to pet him while he eats.
I'm glad Hila is a bad person because every time I see more pictures of her with this extremely suspicious and pained squint at Ethan and Tamara, I just think, "Oh that sucks, oh god this sucks," and I know she deserves it.
I'm reading a fine fantasy novel right now and there's a prophecy the cast is trying to understand as it's growing closer while hopping around locations and escaping danger and I just keep thinking
yeah. but. y'know. rice boy.
Person who undergoes a horrific transformation into a werewolf only to be puzzled why everyone keeps petting them and giving them little cups filled with whipped cream
This is good but I once again have to point out how ridiculous it is that Congress holds the power of the purse, and now Democrats are using it, and this is treated as "novel" and "aggressive", rather than something that should have happened 2 years ago at least
NEWS --> Dems are planning novel ways to wield power of the purse against Trump's corrupt prosecutions of critics like Ilhan Omar if they win House. Reps Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin tell me a range of aggressive tactics will be deployed.

Gen AI is trying to make labor a F2P system, isn't it? Claude pitching a software company on a contract and there's a big shaking golden chest full of 'tokens', in big glittery letters, "BEST VALUE!!"
