This "duty" to govern leads to the restart of homeless sweeps. Even with a 7-day warning, sweeps kill and displace. As Pannekoek says, the role of public official eventually forces the use of police against the vulnerable to maintain "order" for the capitalist class. 3/4

We have our own priorities, but as DSA members, one thing we want is a bigger DSA. DSA should include people excited by the Mamdani campaign AND people excited by labor organizing AND people who want to do mutual aid and immigrant defense in their neighborhoods.

We have decided to close down new member onboarding starting in September and running no later than January with membership empowered to vote to re-open membership. This has been done in order to give us time to work on upgrades to how we handle onboarding and developing new members.
