Hi all, I’m Alec, a Trans geek in my 40s. I love reading, travelling, playing video games (no streaming), creating spreadsheets for my many collections. I watch a lot of football ⚽, and I may have an unhealthy love of Dr Pepper. I have three cats and I’m always willing to post photos.

Things I’m grateful for today: The financial security to be able to pay a $1300 emergency vet bill without panic. Supportive friends that I was able to panic post at when everything was happening. Here’s the pretty little problem child looking perfectly content at the emergency vet. (Liar!)

Hey @diceenvy.bsky.social, any chance you can help me identify a few sets I know I purchased from you but can’t find on the website anymore to get the set names? Any help would be appreciated. 1 was probably a mystery HD set and may not have a set name.

Planning in recovery days after trips or big multi-day events is probably some of the best self care I can actually remember to do for myself. Slept in, watched some tv, washing machine cleaning cycle, put a few things away, ate both lunch & dinner, played a chill video game all evening. 😌

Another successful Gamehole Con. Met up with friends, bought lots of dice, played a new game. Haul/loot photo to come later today. I've got most of the dice inventoried - still need to do a count of how many I got from the pitcher of dice I got from the Chessex booth.

Trying one more time, because I'm sure they'll be gone today if they aren't already. Anyone? #NYCC

Anyone going to NYCC that can be my proxy and pick me up the signed NYCC edition of ASTARION with the d20 from the Penguin Random House booth (#3021) for $60? I am happy to coordinate payment and shipping.

Bringing this up again in hopes someone is able to help me out.

This is amazing! Depending on costs, this could be an absolute game changer for folks. Their own mobility scooter that can fit in the backseat of a car with their chair without the need to rent/transport a full scooter.

"But the handicapped need cars!" No, what they need are options in mobility. The tech exists to enable their freedom of independent mobility, but almost always what is lacking is the enabling infrastructure. Bike lanes and quality sidewalks serve everyone.

When you blocked someone on this platform, I really wish it actually removed their follow rather than just hiding them from my Followed By list (not sure if it hides them entirely or just from my view). I blocked four or five spam accounts this week and yet my follower count hasn't gone down.

I have two cats curled up snoozing in this room and it is not helping me with this at all.

It is raining and I can actually hear it on the roof. This just makes me want to go back to bed.

Mail day! My @blackoakworkshop.bsky.social Advent-ure Calendars have arrived! Perfect timing to start one tomorrow. This time we've got one 31-day, and two 24-day calendars, so I'll be doing the 31-day for October. As always, I look forward to chatting with Craig in a few weeks at Gamehole Con.

I love it (I do not love it) when I end up picking up book 3 of a series first. While I'm completely in the dark about the references the characters are making to previous events and the nuances of the interpersonal relationships, the story itself is stand alone, so at least there's that.

I'm already at 53%, so I'm just gonna finish it. I'll have to go back and grab the first two books at some point. (This novella was in this year's Hugo packet, and I didn't think to check if it was part of a series.)

After nearly 18 months of my boss fighting for it, my promotion at work has finally gone through (effective today). Along with this comes a move from hourly to salary since I was able to skip a level in the job ladder.

Cost of living is a lot more out west, and I'd be going from roommate to solo living, which obviously increases the cost too. Thankfully, I work remote, so it's just figuring out the budget to see if I can do it. (I really, really want to do it.)

I almost didn't post this because so many friends and acquaintances are losing work and I don't want to come off as gloating. But this is huge for me, and I really wanted to share some good news going on in my life.

Really, the only bad thing about that is I had been averaging 2-3 hours of overtime a week the last couple of years. But I worked out a system with my boss that we're both happy with. It comes with a significant pay increase that I am hoping will be enough to facilitate a cross country move.

In 2 months, I will be in NYC seeing my first play on Broadway. I'm almost afraid to get excited since the first time I tried to see this production on the West End, there was fuckery and the entire trip didn't happen.

After the massive progress made cleaning/organising the basement last month, I have ordered two more shelving units in hopes of even more progress. Hoping this is all I need, but might need one more depending on how much stuff I manage to purge.

I'm also planning on moving two of my existing shelves (one full of bankers boxes of books that don't fit on my bookshelves, one full of board games) from elsewhere in the basement to my storage room.

Side benefit of all this work is that I will have a clearer picture of exactly how much stuff I have (too much) and it'll be considerably easier to pack it all if/when I'm actually able to relocate to my desired region.

This book is SO good.

As we approach the twenty-first day of the month of September, I urge you all the remember the importance of being prepared for the alien plant invasion, which will be arriving any day. You were warned.

Bubbler sealed it. And apparently Terrace. There were a few that it didn't give you 'I use both of these' or 'I use one or more of these' where I was forced to pick one. I might go back and change those to 'Other' to see if that shifts things much.

Which of these terms do you prefer for a sale of unwanted items on your porch, in your yard, etc.? I use garage sale and yard sale interchangeably. Original answer was garage sale.

Also, I am very glad they had 'creek' on there. I am /opinionated/ on how that word is pronounced. I have been known to argue about it. Kinda wish they had 'diabetes' as a question, because there might be strong feelings related to that one too.

Updated those two questions to 'Other' and this is what we get. Key change is less in common with Montana and southern Oregon/northern California.

The two I changed: What word(s) do you use to address a group of two or more people? I use several of the options regularly, so changed it from 'you guys'.
