Software engineering could and should be done with the same care as any other type of engineering. This is a post in honor of Margaret Hamilton (and also a subtweet of all vibe-coders everywhere).

Whole segment is too long for Bluesky but the first three minutes is honestly a highlight reel of my work as an AI critic and it was absolutely incredible.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

Here’s my full segment on MSNOW about becoming “the leading expert voice on the bearish case against AI,” the end of hypergrowth, and how AI’s costs and losses are magnitudes higher than those that built Amazon Web Services, and even Amazon itself. One of my best. youtu.be/n32mhb2aUsE?...

I wrote an essay about why I'm done using AI for coding, even if it costs me my job and career: brettcodes.com/im-done-usin... The basic gist is: AI made me a worse, apathetic programmer. I think it's bad for humanity, the planet, and the craft of software engineering. And I'm done using it.

brettcodes.comI'm done using AIWhy I'm stopping using AI for coding (and anything else) after using it earnestly for a year and coming to understand the harms it causes on personal, societal, and environmental levels.

One of the (many) reasons I think people are so anti-AI is that it’s a gratuitous display of wealth inequality. The average person’s life is difficult, expensive, and getting any kind of loan sucks - unless you’re raising billions of dollars to build an AI data center.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

Was awesome to join Bloomberg to talk about the lie of AI - everyone's buying into the mag7 believing CapEx is going towards diverse AI demand, when all it's really doing is supporting the circular cloud revenues of two unprofitable, unsustainable AI labs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHcZ...

I really want to encourage influencers, news folks, pundits who made predictions about this speech to consider not doing that again. People were really scared in advance, needlessly. It's good to work with facts and not fabrications. You aren't predicting anything, you are just guessing.

Will be live on CNBC at around 10:15am talking about the AI bubble, OpenAI floating government ownership, AI ROI and more.

Today’s free newsletter is about how Silicon Valley — as exemplified by the AI bubble — has abandoned its supposed principles of rationality and meritocracy, and now more closely resembles a cargo cult desperate to recreate bygone eras of growth. www.wheresyoured.at/cargo-culture/

Anthropic and OpenAI are dangerous and unsustainable companies that shouldn’t be taken public. The AI bubble is a con and retail investors are the marks. AI doesn’t have ROI, it’s nothing like AWS or Uber, and it’s got no post-bubble recovery story. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbKD...

Elections are controlled by the states. A federal registry tramples states' rights. 2.Republicans are undemocratic AF. They want to make it as hard as possible for you to access your right to vote. 3.Come hell or high water, we all vote. They don't want us to vote? Fuck 'em, we're voting.

George Bush. Barack Obama. Donald Trump. Joe Biden. They have all allowed the involuntary forced-feeding of immigrants hunger-striking in detention. Mostly under sealed court orders. This is the legacy of Guantanamo Bay. Abolish ICE. Abolish DHS.

Parkrose Permaculture@parkroseperma.bsky.social

Tom Homan has said he will get an order to force-feed the Delaney strikers. ICE has been doing this for years. They have a facility in Texas known as the "force-feeding hub". Involuntary force-feeding is torture. It's a human rights violation.

Cops are never there to defend your rights against the lawlessness and brutality of ICE. So grateful for indie journalists covering what’s happening. Keep your eyes on Delaney. Be loud in your opposition to injustice.

Delaney Hall ICE prison in New Jersey is a privately owned/operated immigration detention (prison) with a multi-$B U.S. contract. Immigrants are being held without due process, feed rancid food, severely mistreated and are on a hunger strike, while protesters are being attacked. Do not look away!

The Roberts Court, their corruption, destruction of democracy, and overt racism must spurn the People of this nation to reform the Court, pass laws to protect Black Americans' rights...let this be the thing that pushes us to fight for VRA2 and radical reforms. The racists don't get to win this.
