The UKMTO are reporting a late report of a vessel attacked and disabled in the Strait of Hormuz 3 days ago. Crew is safe but no other details yet. This is the 32nd registered attack on shipping in the area this month. #TheHormuzCrisis

Still feeling ok ! Very low pain , but the antibiotics are making me tired ( this is copable) so still not getting stuff done. Today I made a veg soup for supper , threw ingredients in the bread maker and am now resting ( stairs depleted me) before washing my hair . These are good days :)

I admit I wanted UK keep Sterling previously . ( I made some lucky gains with exchange rates moving between pounds and euros) I no longer give a fig I would in fact appreciate the Euro and the simplicity of a shared currency.

Regarding imperial measurements- why teach youngsters things we have almost phased out. Like most who live in uk I run on a mixture- miles are easier for me than kilometres. I tend to use US cooking measurements but can use either metric or imperial, horses are always hands though 🫣

For some reason I have to really think about that conversion , and jumps - I learned them in hands & feet only . But weight for horses is metric , and for me either metric or stones, not lbs only. A metric youth is simpler and more internationally competitive workforce. Don't go back.

And now too full to even consider a sliver of cheese or a piece of fruit. So good I couldn't leave any in my bowl. ( there is a small portion left over and I envisage a four way duel for it tomorrow)

Could everyone start listening to more radio three. I'm so scared my favourites will be axed:( Listening to the early music show and wondering what I'd do without it. ( yes I have CDs, but it's the introduction to things I don't know, and a well curated programme is diff to playing own CDs

I am sad so many are seeing it as contentious we should be asked to be self provident for three days. Yes- it's a little stressful if not used to the concept. But by keeping stuff in for ourselves we are freeing emergency priority & resources for those who cannot .

Some stuff is simple- eg - as a child k was taught if you have time fill bathtubs either cold water as a crisis ensues. Though we'd cope three days I am building supplies so that I can go a few weeks/ and or help neighbours who have not been able to store because of health/ space .

I did a thread on Twitter some time ago on how to keep your home as warm as possible with minimal heating given the costs so here’s as many of the tricks as I can remember. Prompt me if I forget stuff!

Beware of finance industry lobbying. It hired PwC (the firm that delivers dud audits) to produce a report, claiming that UK banks face highest rates of tax. The report included taxes not borne by banks. Omitted countries that levy higher rates of taxes. Integrity never gets in the way of profits.

theguardian.comIs London really the most-taxed city? Banks accused of cherrypicking dataLobby group’s figures, shared with John Healey, are misleading as they do not include major rival Paris, say campaigners

Ok - I am going out to start a stockpile. We'd cope a fortnight but it would be carb heavy and not well balanced so o want to add some tinned veg , tinned fruit and water, so we can eat tinned veg curries, tinned fruit and carbs :)

It's fascinating to see what has sold out- big water bottles, sardines but no other fish, plenty of loo roll still there ( people still using their Covid stash?) Tinned meat was scant but I'd rather go without meat . I was going to buy big sacks of kibble friend at farm supplies says

Keep enough fuel in the car to get there and she'll give us enough food for all the dogs and chooks. Horses will survive even if we have to hand graze them . In truth - apart from my phone and concern for ithers I feel life might be rather fine for us in a short shut down 🫣

Access to diverse ingredients outside metropolitan areas. Access to toiletries/ cosmetics for diverse skin tones / hair types My pets have never seen a flea Availability of species appropriate pet foods (I have loads more)

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
