Am I the only person that hates being sent a YouTube video with no additional information? Just a link. Did you like it? Do you have an opinion? Why did you send it?

An excellent summary of year-round daylight saving time, or simply choosing to live in whatever timezone you feel like. Time is fake and clocks are terrible. I love that some people have try courage to push back against Big Clock.

wrote a newsletter! it's been a while! This time it's mostly: - a recap of my position on the end of daylight saving time, which many of you will be familiar with - some stuff I've enjoyed lately buttondown.com/holly/archiv...

Are there any game designers with a good homepage? Usually it’s just a few credits and a blog with 3 posts before being abandoned.

My finest contribution to games. ⭐

I had been unhappy with the beach, and asked what I might do to make it less monotonous. @docky.games's answer? STARFISH

When did Playmobil characters become totally badass? Cyberpunk fashion with pink hair and prosthetics? I like that the laser sight can be removed from the pistol. When I grew up Playmobil characters were total dorks.

it’s so great and normal that Steam is randomly censoring games like this for no reason, at the same time as they’re blasting “HENTAI VS FURRY FEST” banners all over the front page, which takes you straight to full-frontal nudity in one click

Dave Gilbert@wadjeteyegames.com

We are aware that Steam has classified Nighthawks as an adult game and has excluded it from searches (and delisted it entirely in certain countries). We are working on it. Valve is under the impression that this game is way sexier than it actually is.

Fellow indies devs, how many of you have an intentional preproduction process? I recently started tech tests for a new game after several weeks of designing exclusively on pen & paper. I usually recommend against working this way but it’s going nicely.

Look at how good this game looks! Always excited to see a new Locomalito game.

Locomalito@locomalito.com

#Snailord WIP Some new enemies have been added. It's great to see new content after months without any progress on this project. It's a score-based arcade game, but it's getting the charm of a classic, deep RPG.

Best explanation I've got is Godot isn't drowning in generational noise. Unreal has layers of conflicting tooling, and there's always a Correct Way of doing something that is theoretically more efficient, but only when done in the big studio way, so you bend your OWN processes in a knot to suit etc

I love making stuff that no-one gets to see!!

Sen, but Spooky@dresdencodak.com

Art tip: don't share everything you draw. Draw things you never intend to show anyone. Your brain needs time to just exist in a state that's not about performing for strangers. This used to be the normal way to exist before social media poisoned us.

Yes this is true! This is also why experienced developers and mixed background teams are valuable on projects. An ideal team can pull from all sorts of projects.

This is why I never lament projects that are abandoned for too long, They are the fertile soil and seeds of future creations if not something to be raided for spare parts.

One of my favourite moments when designing games is solving a new problem with parts from an abandoned project. It feels like cheating. I’m stealing ideas from myself!!

I think about this all the time!! What’s the subset of my art which is appealing, sustainable, and not undermined by AI dross. Generally it’s the wonky stuff because noone wonks as hard as otherwise intentional humans.

Genuinely can't wait to see what fucked up aesthetic wave the omnipresent Shitty GenAI Poster era causes GenAI squats the slot normies read as Highly Polished Art, so do we get an era of sketchy oddity? Design skills-heavy shapes / balance? Literal scribbles? What creates enough aesthetic distance?

I often have to remind game designers and producers that the ‘little things’ are what makes a good game great.

as a producing and marketing professional, I would like to confirm that "because it's cute af and makes us happy" is actually an excellent reason to add features to your game.

Karen aka Bitmoo is one of the best artists and you should all hire her for your games. I love the style so much.

This is such a wonderful episode of what is already such a wonderful podcast. Highly recommend.

sincerely, rob dubbin@robdubbin.bsky.social

i’ve done it. i’ve created the perfect console. sure, you can also listen to this podcast and learn tons of stuff about my life that i spilled to simon, a skilled journalist with a disarming personality. but really (esp in light of current memory prices) you’re gonna want to preorder THE BEIGE BRICK

i recently saw someone post this new browser (browser.horse) and it's made me think for the past few days about how comfortable we are with keeping usability trends FROM THE 90s, despite now being far more knowledgeable about individual needs and use cases. artefacts are still one-size-fits-some

browser.horseFeeling overwhelmed by normal browsers? - Horse BrowserYour brain isn't broken. Your browser is. Horse Browser replaces tabs with Trails, a branching sidebar that keeps every page visible.

be it saturation or anatomy or motion or lineart or proportions or whatever individual element of a given drawing or painting, if you think to yourself "this might be too much" you are at least 1.5x under where you actually want to be at

Hey artists, let's share some helpful things in the community :) 🎨 What's one tip or trick you would give a new artist in your chosen medium? (Or just in general!)

This looks great!! I love making UX layer tools to make a fiddly tool fun to use and easy to tweak. When a level art tool is annoying to use there’s simply too much friction to change game content.

so happy with "EasySpline", the little layer I built atop of Unity Splines to make for easier editing. You don't usually want to fiddle with control points, you want to edit a more abstract shape and then go "ok but now:... - make it sag - rounded corners - just smooth etc.

I have done a lot of gamedev student portfolio reviews over the years. I am often giving the same advice, so to help as many students as possible I am organizing a live digital portfolio review where everyone can watch the feedback. It's scheduled for July 6th: www.eventbrite.nl/e/game-dev-s...

Square should hurry and make this game.

Brandon Sheffield@brandon.insertcredit.com

What I need is FFXV-2. all my boys in short shorts rolling around in their beach cruiser doing side quests, just vibes, no world saving. There are 1000 new recipes and 500 more fish to catch. You can take cute selfies with every boss monster. There's a bros-only swimsuit contest

Please help! I need to repost this. Sony refuse to recover my stolen PSN account (despite 2FA). I’ve lost 19 years of purchases. They won’t help unless I provide the serial number from a old PS3 which broke in 2009. Are there any journalists interested in this story? Anyone can contact Sony?

I’m very tempted to write a manifesto for this jam.

cécile@haraiva.bsky.social

MANIFESTO JAM 2026 An invitation/provocation for YOU to write a manifesto. Running for a full week from June 8th to June 15th (AEST). Participate and submit at: itch.io/jam/manifest...

Speaking as a dev on the other end, it’s always frustrating when a game is sent to a demo event and the recorded feedback from players is sparse. Ideally I want gameplay footage with microphone, but definitely a lot of notes!!!

Robin-Yann Storm@rystorm.com

I still get quite upset (internally) when playing a game, the dev asks for feedback, and then they never pull out a phone, or a pen, to write down the feedback! You have to write things down! You can’t remember all the feedback! Or, go nuts and write down the feedback on post-it’s on the booth
