Both my TVs updated to the new @plex.tv UI and I honestly find it unusable. The performance is just so sluggish, and removing some buttons/features was certainly a choice. At least since it's android I could uninstall it and side load the old version, I wonder if they did any user/perf testing.

If you like the NES Castlevania, you can get it for free on your mobile device (Search your app store for "Castlevania 40th anniversary" by Konami to find it). I'm psyched, still have the original NES cartridge!

Any tips on sourcing some decently priced hardware? My laptop, mini PC, and HDD enclosure all died last month. At least the latter was under warranty, so a replacement is en route! I found a refurb small form factor PC too, but it's older and costs more than the mini PC I'm replacing was new.

Tried out the Star Fox demo and it definitely feels like Star Fox. I was never big on the series, so I might not get it, but I could definitely see the appeal if you're a fan.

I know it can be hard to grow an audience on social media, especially when people seem to be yelling into the void. As someone with a lot of interests, I'm always looking for new things to follow, so feel free to comment on this post and I'll check out your page!

Better late than never. My newest video is going live at noon ET. This has been the biggest project I've undertaken so far, involving over 4.5 hours of footage from the last 2 months that I cut down to ~15 minutes. I'll link when it's live. Hope retro game fans/preservationists check it out!

Good news and bad news. Good news: Finished the project I've been excited about and have the whole thing recorded! Bad news: Gonna delay putting out the video by at least a week because I'm not going to be able to get the editing done by Tuesday.

I finally picked up a CRT TV that's in generally good shape. Looks like the Dreamcast and NES light gun games can live again! If only I had somewhere to put the TV though. Well, one thing at a time.

Well, looks like that's not happening in the near term. Some parts were DOA and it's going to take at least a month for replacements to get here. Time to pivot!

Finally got the replacements and looks like things are back on track! Might have to split the project up into multiple parts for timing, but I should be able to have the first part (or whole thing) out at the beginning of May!

With the holidays upon us I finally have time to tackle bigger projects that have been shelved for lack of time. I also have a bunch of family commitments and other things going on, so I'm really hoping to at least get one project done before the new year.

If you had to pick one, which would it be? 1. Retro game preservation 2. Retro console mod comparison (hard mods) 3. Retro console softmods 4. DIY Smart home tech 5. QoL mods for electronics 6. 3D modeling and printing 7. Using old hardware for a custom experience 8. Retro game/console maintenance

And the hits just keep on coming: My multimeter's shot. Can anyone recommend a decent one? Preferably budget-friendly, but I'll go for better quality vs price if it means I won't need to replace it as soon.

So turns out my main video storage/editing hard drive failed and I've lost whatever content I hadn't backed up. Couple that with the Canada Post strike and all the components I've ordered are in mail limbo. Hopefully I can pick up a new drive and get back to creating before the end of the month

Happy 42nd anniversary (at least, for the Japanese release date) to my very first console, the NES! I absolutely adored that console (Super Mario 1,2, and 3. Duck hunt, Mega Man 2, and so many other titles with massive nostalgia for me). What's your go-to NES game?

New 3D printed model available! Display stand sfor 8BitDo SN30, Nintendo Switch Online, and original wired SNES controllers. Includes slots for SNES and USB dongles. Available in both single and double controller styles. Retweets are GREATLY appreciated!

Anyone got recs for some good, lesser known NES games to revisit? I'm in the mood for a retro night and I'm queuing up Power Blade, Terra Cresta, and I could use a third. #retrogaming #nes

Playing the first #Metroid Prime game today on my #GCN reminds me how far we've come with #FPS controls on consoles. It also reminds me how good #gamedevs were to make clunky (by today's standards) controls still feel smooth and intuitive after a brief adjustment period.

Does anyone know where to find a wiring diagram for an #N64 Rumble Pak? My two originals are having issues and I'm noticing differences in connectivity (broken traces and such) between them but can't find a reference doc to help me repair them.

Was feeling a bit nostalgic, so I went through my #GameBoy / #GBA game collection today and for the life of me I can't find my favourite GBA game (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance). It must have gotten lost in a move. Well that sucks.
