So hard to pick a favorite part of this article. Pretending that sending unsolicited dick pics at 53 was a “youthful indiscretion” is good, but don’t sleep on the argument that his wife forgave him for subjecting other women to unwanted nude photos so everyone else should too

So, having finished my haunted house, it’s time for another project. I’ve actually been working on this one for several months, but it’s coming together now.

I stained the pendant a darker brown and have suspended it within the crescent, although I’ll probably replace the chain on top with more fishing wire for a floating effect. I also added more moss and small red and brown glass mushrooms to the lashing around the crescent.

I looked for inspiration from an appropriate source and narrowed down my desired style to something in this range:

I found something good looking on Etsy and the seller was willing to cover any surprises for tariffs/shipping so I ordered it and hoped. About a month later…

Having attended a couple renaissance festivals as pirates for multiple years, husband decided last year he’d like to try different garb. After determining he wasn’t interested in either “40 lbs. of stinking velvet” or “chain mail and fur bikini” barbarian, we settled on D&D Druid-ish.

I found a hat and some earrings, and figured out I was going with something green, brown, and mushroomey But a Druid needs a staff…

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

Trunk or treat at church was a smashing success. The kids were absolutely amazed by the kraken that took over my car and were thrilled to get treasure (gold chocolate coin and a ring pop) out from its mouth. Son did a great job of keeping the treasure flowing while stuck in the trunk.

2) None of the kids had any experience with chocolate coins. Many thought they were real gold. Not a Hanukkah gelt experiencer among them.

Heh, had to look it up and apparently I wasn’t far from target with the accent. Loads of Scottish pirates in history.

I learned two things: 1) My “pirate” accent sounds Scottish. I dunno if there were any Scottish pirates or if I just invented one, but the parents found it funny.

What we have done since 1980 is remove entry-level access goods in a variety of contexts (housing, education, health care), and then wonder why everybody is so worried about affordability. It is not a puzzle, guys.

Garden update! As expected, the bananas probably aren’t going to make it. The okra continues to overwhelm. But the best surprise was - passion fruit flowers!! We’re going to get passion fruits!

An excellent author I follow made an ignorant, all-encompassing statement about one of my research areas and I responded with an @effinbirds drawing. It’s a shame, because I rather like their work and had considered them pretty sharp previously.

Just because you’ve personally had a bad experience with a version of something doesn’t mean you should throw away the entire thing for everyone. Perhaps it’s not for you but is good for others?

I’m not saying any of my research areas are perfect (and I’d certainly be suspicious of anyone who claimed they were), but that’s why research is needed.

🚨🚨🚨 Q: Is there any scenario in which DOJ would try to block states from certifying the election? AG TODD BLANCHE: Yes, of course. It is not DOJ's intention to improperly interfere with elections or the state certification process, but ...

This replicates my and my female colleagues experiences, particularly around devaluation. Of our group of four tenured women, two have retired, one is getting ready to retire, and I’ve moved jobs twice. Primary factor driving career choices were our formal & informal experiences with devaluation.

As a PhD student designing my first survey, I added what I thought was a throwaway question at the end. To my surprise, thousands of academics answered it! The paper is out today: doi.org/10.1093/pnas...
