@wisp.place 1) sad that your talk got canceled <\3 2) Do you think a one click to deploy on Wisp button rendered from a Readme could be possible? Not a feature request, more so trying to nerdsnipe someone into making it. One click to deploy on Wisp for <insert ATP app Frontend> would be cool!

Ironically nix makes me appreciate Golang more... at least to the degree it's easier to deal with packaging from my experience. Maybe the @tangled.org peeps knew what they were doing? π€

any serious sovereign atproto deployment in the EU/CA would be incomplete without its own microcosm instance, @bad-example.com running load bearing infrastructure over here

alright, canary.witchsky.app is now live (social-app v1.117.0). please test out Drafts & Redrafting (with masked links, media, etc) and file any bug reports by clicking 'Feedback'! There may be bugs β οΈ especially regarding (re)drafts!!
I'm releasing my work as Public Domain (Unlicense) but if you want an alternative viewpoint of software licensing I would recommend reading @erlend.sh's piece. He speaks to an uncomfortable reckoning for FOSS/FLOSS devs that I think is important for consider for your own work and goals.
Anti-fascistic software is made possible by pro-labor licensing. I've been trying to write this piece for years. Every time I get started I'm just overwhelmed with paralyzing visions of the FOSS commentariat accusing me of WrongThink. But I'm tired and we urgently need to get our shit together.
I'm working on very low level packaging of a lot of other people's labor, I don't believe I have the same level of ownership of it as ex: @roomy.space. I also have the overall goal of promoting Nix/NixOS and I don't want one person to stand in the way of it, I don't want to be owed anything.
I'm also sad by the constant erosion of the public domain and threats towards entities like the @archive.org to preserve our shared history and culture by corporate greed. I have very different goals than other open source projects and I don't think my choice is right for everyone.
having fun annotating this @leaflet.pub with @margin.at Does anyone know of an example of using MLS for something beyond chat that would naturally beyond scale 2K+ users?

@danabra.mov is this making a lexicon for publishing GUI components? I saw your post, but I wasn't 100% sure if that was what I was looking at: witchsky.app/profile/did:...
added tangled.org/hailey.at/co... pkg I appreciate how little effort golang packages can be in nix
for now until issues w/ my tangled account are resolved (this was probably my fault), my nur will exist at: tangled.org/atproto-nix.... currently just has pkgs/indigo working on modules/indigo/relay.nix rn reading about systemd π
@tangled.org I somehow manage to keep making ghost repos every time I try to delete a repo π I burned atproto-nix.org/nur atproto-nix.org/nur-atproto atproto-nix.org/nixos b/c tangled keeps telling me the repos exist when they don't

I, for one, would like to thank Eurosky for thinking of the lesbians and finally making a migration tool just for us: github.com/eurosky-soci...
Verified this domain with @keytrace.dev, which is also my atproto handle and in did:web:atproto-nix.org so I think that means it is tripled verifed on atproto :P keytrace.dev/atproto-nix....
POV: a silly goose nearly nuked @selfhosted.social with @wisp.place b/c they didn't follow this advice π₯ witchsky.app/profile/did:...
new pds just dropped terms of service: about.mbdio.uk/legal
We're mbdio.uk a simple free to use Bluesky PDS run by @danielmorrisey.com and @e.xyehr.cn! Learn more and get an invite at about.mbdio.uk
If I didn't already get shadowbanned from the bsky appview after migrating this did:web account to another PDS I would try to host it on a @wafrn.net instance for the lolz (it was some kind of bug, I didn't get banned for real). codeberg.org/wafrn/wafrn has a flake.nix in their repo, those sickos π
@bnewbold.net on the topic of did:web, were there some recent fixes pushed to the bsky code? b/c miraculously this account reappeared on the Bsky appview only very recently (vanished after a PDS migration). Emelia mentioned some possible caching in the appview code but I don't remember specifics.
@wafrn.net + fedisky = imaginary technique hollow social
ohhh interesting, activitypub on an atproto pds https://github.com/msonnb/fedisky
Throughout heaven and earth, @gabboman.xyz alone is the Self-Referential One
currently reading about NixOS modules and services: - britter.dev/blog/2025/01... - nlewo.github.io/nixos-manual... - nixos-and-flakes.thiscute.world/other-usage-... - github.com/NixOS/nixpkg... - wiki.nixos.org/wiki/Extend_... systemd stuff - wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd
other things I want to configure and selfhost on nixos: - @stream.place instance - @tangled.org appview π - probably a @leaflet.pub or something with @standard.site maybe @parakeet.at appview but only backfill nix/nixos people and posts? π€ use atproto w/o touching any of bsky's servers
@tangled.org there's a bunch of ghost repos of mine on the tangled appview that don't even correspond to records in my PDS anymore, do I just have to wait for the appview to refresh itself or can you clear that on your end. I just don't want to confuse people. Thanks! πππ
possible new PDS service! btw non-bluesky pdses: - tangled.org/hailey.at/co... go - github.com/blacksky-alg... rust - tangled.org/futur.blue/p... ocaml - github.com/threddyrex/d... .net - tangled.org/tranquil.far... rust - github.com/ascorbic/cir... CF worker - tangled.org/chadtmiller.... minimal
The full idea is a PDS deployable via GUI (no code). Could be nice for say, an organization, because you get more security of your own content, plus federation with the wider Bluesky world, and possibly publishing to multiple destinations, e.g. the web + bluesky, with PDS as source of truth.
I terms of use in the wild, I have seen a bunch of cocoon instances (I think it's the most stable, not sure of status on rsky-pds please correct me). But I have seen tranquil.farm and a few pegasus PDS servers. The CF worker I mentioned in case someone wants to take advantage of CF's free tier.
