@mrjamesob.bsky.social President of Finland made an interesting comment in an interview recently. He was Prime Minister and he said the hardest thing was knowing most people want you to fail. The Mail, Telegraph etc not celebrating because they want the government to fail.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social I was a drama teacher for 30 years. A joy of the job was creating a safe space for anxious kids and see them gain in confidence- not as performers but as communicators. Yet I spent years fighting for my subject not to be marginalised in favour of more ‘important’ subjects!

John Prescott was a politician both behind and ahead of his time. Considered too bluff and old Labour to reach to the very top in the 90s, today his authenticity and class credentials would have been perfect to fight Farage and populism. Labour needs more like him.
