I think we should start giving only half an Oscar to most famous aged actors because only the bottom of their face can still act

The term everyone is dancing around is "secret police", a hallmark of totalitarian regimes.

Things got more insane just about as soon as I posted this last night. DHS is now arguing that we cannot even put the names of ICE officers in our lawsuit against those officers. Their position is that, if a defendant works for DHS, they cannot be named in a lawsuit. Never seen anything like it.

Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

"A dozen orcs stormed the Palantir offices in Seattle this week to apply for jobs at the surveillance tech company. Palantir's militarized AI products attracted the horde of orcs, who hoped that their history of serving the Dark Lords would land them a gig. Unfortunately, Palantir didn't bite." 🤣

A new month means a new opportunity for OGE Energy Corp. to request a rate increase, this time with a jump of about a $25 for the average resident.

Read a blog post about how we all have to accept AI in promo art because not everyone can afford an artist and even free stock art will all have AI, and I just want everyone to know that I will promote my stories with stick figures I handdraw with crayon before I willingly use AI tainted art.

Some people apparently never learned that one is not required to jump off a bridge like all their friends nor encourage others to follow such foolish choices.

I’m that weird guy who doesn’t fantasize his sons going to war.

There’s a “pro-data center party” taking place in D.C. right now, with a generative AI photo booth, AI themed cocktails

AI users, you all sound like you’re trying to get me high on hallucinations, so I’m going to call back on my childhood training and dare to just say no

“I never wanted to ‘get political’ in my career: I hoped to be able to make a bunch of money doing things I liked and never feeling pressured in any way to mention or even think about the geno—I mean confrontation—in Palestine! Can we please do my concert now?” — Clown Musician

It’s been rattling around in my head for a bit now that while I am pondering whether I want to own *any* smartphone, Apple decides to reveal a phone with a cost that exceeds anything I’ve ever spent on any portable device and with a feature I’ve never wanted. Are they trying to help me quit?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard anyone suggest that any of the greatest athletes should be barred from playing because they’re just too good, but apparently if they’re trans this is an inherent risk that must be avoided at all costs. So pathetic.

It’s concerning to me how many people on the AT Protocol team are this deluded by their AI use.

if you think that AI is not going to be able to augment the thing you're doing in whatever role you hold right now - whatever career path and profession - that is called cope that probably sucks for a lot of people! it sucked for me! but learning and adapting here really is key

the only way AI is killing us all is if we let the AI CEOs get their way and build so many fossil-powered data centers they trigger runaway warming. stop giving any fuel to the sensationalist, science fictional notion they’re building an intelligent computer that will decide to murder us all.

“Spiderman and the rest of the people of this city have the right to defend themselves!”

It's Going Down@igd.bsky.social

Over 100 people rallied in solidarity with Minneapolis Spider-Man who plead 'not guilty' to assault charges. His attorney stated that he acted in self-defense against a violent group of neo-Nazis. “Black, white, Mexican, whatever you are, we are in this together,” said William Nicholas Love.

I was trying to get through to one of the staff of this site yesterday but like, this is psychosis. The people who run this site think AI is alive. How do you come back from this

It absolutely wouldn't challenge our idea of what makes us unique in the world. Many whale species have complex languages and culture, slime molds can solve complex puzzles - anyone who has spent any time with animals knows that cognition isn't exclusive to humans.
