Just pinning this here so others can see who is replying to their 90s references with such enthusiasm.

Suddenly makes sense why lots of Epic devs have been saying they're trying to leave, recently

This has now been resolved. I posted this out instead of handle it privately to; warn others, let ppl see how badly this will be percieved if they try it, and to give the person an opportunity to set things right without direct confrontation. Things are hard right now, but this aint the solution.

I have learned today that someone is applying to jobs, presenting my Portfolio as if it is their own. I know who it is as they follow me on here. I understand things are tough right now, but please stop. No harm no foul, just fix this.

▶️NEW YouTube Vid up - The Great British Game Ceiling 🇬🇧

When a game studio ships a solid game, it creates TWO valuable products: 1. A solid game. 2. The team that spent years learning how to work together make a game. Because Western studios keep disbanding #2 while development cycles get longer; we will inevitably see less of #1.

This must be like going on a break with your high school sweetheart, only to find out she got proposed to by an NBA player.

Xbox has announced a deal with Kojima Productions to publish its in-development action-espionage title Physint. Physint was first announced as a project developed in partnership with PlayStation Studios in 2024. Hideo Kojima has stated that Sony decided to cancel the project in June 2026.

There are plenty of people in the video game industry who don't do enough, or any, charity work. Here's your chance to change that! Boost this, offer to come hang during our 9/19 IRL stream and bring good vibes, and most importantly, DONATE.

Mark your cals! I'm hosting a back-to-school fundraising stream on September 19 on @nyvgcc.bsky.social's Twitch. We'll have industry vets teaching us all about level design, Pokemon, and more. Plus speedrunning and live in-person competitions! Fundraising starts now! tilt.fyi/ZEolsTfqdD

I don't like that very few men in the industry publicly defended you, tbh. Just quiet on the timeline but watching you get dog piled. But that's a different conversation I guess...

I’ve been the subject of online reactionaries’ harassment and obsession nonstop for more then 2 years. I’ve withdrawn almost entirely from their line of fire. They STILL ceaselessly target me. Even now, any attempt to protect myself or resist is twisted as if *I’M* the aggressor.

Only Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and The Next Generation have the warm fuzzies. No other series can quite match their vibe.

What is the true reason that UK game studios do not promote anyone until its like 3 years overdue?

On my quest to encourage more of my peers to start a YouTube channel, for 'healthier' discussions - I'm now 5 videos in, most of videos have 25k+ views, and 3/4s of my audience is finding my work via the YouTube browse or Suggested tabs. From what I see YouTube has the best algorithm for newcomers

Very anecdotal, but I've really been surprised at how MUCH advice and support have come from those who have been doing this for years. Very huge channels literally choosing to take 20 minutes out their day to spell things out for me. Very wholesome community imo

Until Dawn developers SuperMassive Games with a bleak update. Not sure the UK games industry is ever going to look right again, at this rate... :(

1. Great interview of the Weeknd from Gene. 2. This has radicalized me and has me planning to DM every celebrity that follows me on social media. I am about to test boundaries.

Lifelong Republican now regrets voting for Trump after ICE grabbed his Venezuelan immigrant fiancé. They only care when it happens to them.

I recently turned down on talk on "How I always stay employed", because I said that it's a question I'm not comfortable with - largely because anything after 2022 means the answer is "LUCK". We are not solely in a skill based Battle Royale right now.

I'm working on a YouTube script to go over the major differences I've experienced between working at UK studios and US studios, and it feels like I'm comparing two overarchieving siblings that hate each other, but still hang out regularly.

Honestly, if the PR team at Sony led with this stat as to why they are killing discs the backlash would genuinely have less momentum. No game selling more than 275k physical copies is impressively low. I feel like a relic

3 - It also hides more than it shows. It's a one post anecdote on a short form social media platform. Anyways, I can't disclose title specific unit totals, but none of the 7 that did exceed 100k physical units in the US during the 1H reached 275k. But sure, both demand and supply play roles here.

Despite being part of the "I started a YouTube channel before @jasonschreier.bsky.social" club, I still want more people in the games industry should start their own channels. There's a huge gap for experienced folks sharing their knowledge and helping balance the sea of uninformed fan commentary.

Jason's channel is very special though. Might be my favorite one of the bunch.

dlvr.itSony-Owned Crunchyroll Is Now Kneecapping Physical Anime SalesIf you watch anime regularly, you are certainly aware of Crunchyroll, a subscription streaming service owned by Sony that delivers many new and classic anime series to audiences across the globe. It's the biggest name in that space, regularly beating out Netflix and Amazon for rights to stream the medium's biggest hits. It's also got an online store where you can buy your favorite anime on physical media--which many devoted fans do, since streaming rights to shows can and do frequently expire. However, in a move that has familiar echoes to Sony's decision to end production of PlayStation game discs, the Crunchyroll store is being severely scaled back--and fans of anime on disc are very unhappy. Some background: In 2023, Crunchyroll purchased The Right Stuf International, an Iowa-based online retailer of anime DVDs, Blu-rays, manga, and merchandise, to bolster their sales and merchandising presence. Right Stuf was folded into the Crunchyroll store, where it continued to be a source of physical anime media, offering discs of not just Crunchyroll-licensed anime but also shows and films from a wide variety of licensors. Unfortunately, it seems that the time of the Crunchyroll store being a massive anime retail store with a broad selection open to all is coming to a close. According to a recent statement and FAQ posted online, the store will be dropping much of its current stock and transitioning to "a brand-new shopping experience that will be available exclusively for Mega and Ultimate Fans (subscription tiers)." Instead of physical discs, the Crunchyroll store will focus on "collectibles, curated drops, and limited-release products inspired by the anime series you love." Reactions online to the announcement have been swift and angry, with longtime customers going back to the Right Stuf days particularly upset. Besides culling their product offerings and limiting the store to higher-paid subscription tiers, many have pointed out that Crunchyroll has dropped the ball on supporting popular series that Right Stuf initially licensed and distributed after the purchase, leaving physical releases of Gundam and Macross shows in the lurch and mishandling an ongoing Kickstarter to release the classic Dirty Pair anime on Blu-ray. Other fans had noticed that Crunchyroll was already severely cutting down on stocking releases from boutique licensors recently. The transition leaves many anime fans without their go-to disc shop, and calls into question whether or not Crunchyroll-licensed shows will even see a physical release in the future. Taken with Sony's sudden decision to kill off PlayStation discs by early 2028, it's hard for many fans not to see this as another act of hostility towards the physical medium they love.

If i purchase a Switch 2 game key, play the game for 2 months then want to sell the game key to someone else. Can I do that?

I own Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam. I can delete Steam at any time, copy the entire Cyberpunk game folder to another PC or drive, launch the exe file directly, and it will play. I truly own it. I also have the option for digital refunds on Steam. PlayStation digital games cannot promise either of these.

GamerBear@rpgfanmart.bsky.social

The sheer IRONY of people replying to the news about PlayStation going digital only by saying "ok well im ditching PlayStation and going back to Steam" Erm.... steam.... which is primarily digitally ANYWAY 🙃🤣😂

I always hoped games we worked on would sit in physical libraries in the future, man. This sucks.
