Another thing off my backlog: Azure Gunvolt 3. It's sort of like a MMZ-game, but it's making up the rules as it goes. What a silly series it is, both in terms of story and gameplay. Fun though, can't deny it.

After playing Space Marine 2 and Control Resonant I've concluded that the AAA-world is something I can go without. The nice graphics are paid for with just... so much mediocrity. It's not worth it.

Gotta boost this because this is the nicest compliment and makes me feel really good. I feel like if someone can put their full heart into loving something I hate, then we have more in common than people who like or dislike something based on surface level vibes. It is so cool and fun to care!

imma be real, your posting made me read your dread article(which is why i was commenting about the site being broken earlier), and, man you are significantly better at hating the game than i am at liking it. genuinely inspires me to want to think about games more thoroughly.

Recently finished up this: store.steampowered.com/app/1672810/... Beautiful, both visuals and sound are top notch. Some really fun (but really hard!) platforming and satisfying exploration. When you get a new ability it's not just "oh, time to go back to That One Ledge", you have to think a bit.

Oooh, was just informed that Zexion is the cheapest its been yet. Fantastic retro Metroid'y thing by Metroid sickos for Metroid sickos. It is oppressive, dark, claustrophobic, hostile, and the boss fights are intense and have Contra-style 8-way aiming. It has some of my fave bosses in YEARS.

Dominic Tarason@dominictarason.com

It's a large part of why I loved Zexion so much. That game ESCALATES. The final boss is an absolute slobberknocker with so many phases. And then there's optional secret EVEN HARDER bits.

It's TIME! TO! GET! HYPE! Today, I get to proudly unveil Steam Hype, the project I've been working on with the help of @hookshot.media for the past two and a half months. A new PC gaming site which aims to demystify PC gaming, cut through the 100+ daily releases and spotlight indies as much as AAA

steamhype.comSteam HypeSteam Hype is your go-to destination for discovering the latest, greatest, and most talked-about games on Steam.

I bought it a good time ago, but I finally played and finished Lunacid. I've not played any of the King's Field games, and I realize this is quite different, but I like the style quite a bit.

It's frustrating in the right ways. Darkness, curses and confusion makes it tense to explore, but instant kill-stuff is extremely rare. I died quite a bit, but never without knowing why, which was what I was worried about when I first started playing. Controls well, didn't encounter any bugs etc.

A big cool thing is that stats don't just improve dull numbers, like damage and defense. Increasing dex makes you actually jump higher and able to get to new places. Magic is also really varied in what it lets you do. Make lights, feed plants blood, spawn infinite coffins...

Also reposting this from EMP_Obama on Twitter as well as they actually have a Discord server for this test build If y’all want to help out in testing this out and making UMVC3 rollback the best version it can be, then join this server here: discord.gg/vzUqr79jn Also, be sure to read the message vv

Reposting this from the hellsite but UMVC3 ROLLBACK REAL!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is the copy of the Tweet: "UMVC3 Rollback Netcode Progress (REAL) Most of the roster is working in full matches, but there are many things to fix, a dozen+ move desyncs left to find, effects, etc Still a lot more work left!"

I've been trying to push through the initial barrier and actually learn Tokon well enough that I can judge it fairly, but since yesterday it started crashing as soon as I get into the game proper. Fighting game launches continue to be cursed, huh?

You know, sometimes a balance patch for a fighting game seems bad on paper. Like, they buffed a strong character or nerfed a weak one or somesuch. It's rare to feel like things got more dreary. Like a bunch of stuff went from punishable to safe... but got extra combo scaling. Wow... exciting stuff..

Okay, I got the Tokon beta working but after trying every character I think... I'm going to leave it to other people to enjoy. I know it's a very different game, but after playing mvc3 and mvci (even though I'm bad at them) it feels like trying to run in water.

In the middle of an art revamp, gotta put together a demo some time soon Somehow I STILL haven't figured out a title

Picked up a new book yesterday for the first time in a while and realized a few pages in that it was obviously, let's say, "LLM assisted". Just came back from returning it. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.

Played a bit of the Mortal Shell 2-trial. It's pretty buggy, as you might expect! Boss health bars disappearing, sound effects not playing, a boss teleported outside of the arena at one point. Still less buggy than Enotria is I think.

Tried to achieve some variety but it turns out, at least for the lesser known stuff, on Steam, I appear to have some favorite genres.

Just beat Grime 2. Fantastic game. Definitely one of the best metroidvania games I've played. Unique style and setting, combat that incorporates all your various powerups and some neat ideas of how to make exploration stay fresh. Not as impactful as the first game, but I don't see how it could be.

Bosch being added as a main cast character is funny to me. It's not that his visual design is bad, but he's such a jobber in the story mode. It's like if Necali started as a story-mode only character and was added in a late season. "Oh, they added that guy that gets beat up a bunch?"

You should get it. It's some high quality megamans.

Gravity Circuit is going FREE for the next couple weeks. Legit my favourite platformer of 2023. Grab it. Enjoy it. It's fantastic, and replayable with tons of modifiers and difficulty customization. The Mega Man Zero successor we needed. This is all to promote the sequel, which was just announced.
