A Swedish study of over 1.2 million adults found that non-hospitalised people with diagnosed long COVID had a 14% higher risk of developing high blood pressure than those without long COVID. Researchers highlight the importance of cardiovascular follow-up and regular blood pressure monitoring.

Now that it is
the last week of October
if they ask why
you are wearing a mask
just tell them you
are wearing a costume
for a Halloween party,
and when they ask
what you are dressed as,
tell them you are dressed as
someone who gives a damn
about other people.

Elon Musk has dumped almost $450 million into the midterm elections. Tesla paid 0% in federal income tax last year. We should tax the billionaires.

Most of us carry dormant viruses from past infections, usually harmless. But extreme stress or a weakened immune system can reactivate them. Scientists studying astronauts' immune systems are exploring what might wake these viruses up and how this could be linked to Long COVID. Podcast: 14 minutes

npr.orgThe dormant viruses in all of us may help explain long COVID : Short WaveVirtually every human on Earth has a slew of different types of dormant viruses in our bodies. They are remnants of past infections and are—generally—harmless. Unless they wake up, which can be trigge...

My friend, the activist, tells me he’s worried this administration will refuse to accept the vote count in November. And my friend, the epidemiologist, tells me she’s worried this administration is refusing to accept the measles death count in Pennsylvania.

We are learning so much more about the importance of prevention and yet see society as a whole (including scientists) doing so much less to protect themselves…Makes no sense. “COVID-19 can wake up dormant viruses in the body, large study confirms” www.science.org/content/arti...

Apparently, people are sending suspicious letters to the college where I work. One of the buildings was evacuated, and emergency responders have been called. Reminds me of the anthrax letters after 9-11.

Got to say it's one thing when dems turn on trans people. Its another when they literally laugh at us while doing it.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Democratic congresswoman Kathy Castor of FL-14 becomes the latest anti-transgender Democrat. When asked if she supports "biological males in girls sports," she cheerfully and forcefully says "THE ANSWER IS NO!" with a huge smile on her face, laughing. The number keeps growing.

Natives have never stopped being raped and murdered… you’re just not paying attention. We are at high risk. I survived rape.. and it was a white man. Our missing and murdered sister’s cases never even get looked into….. You just don’t care is the issue.

My aunt, the doctor, told me a new joke. She asked: How can you tell that there’s a lot of Covid going around? I said I did not know. So she answered: Because the New York Times is warning people about the risks of repeat infections. And neither of us laughed.

We’re back with our second story about how Trump’s purge of the FBI killed a sweeping bribery probe in D.C. This time, we take you to South Carolina, where two powerful politicians escaped scrutiny: Sen. Lindsey Graham and Rep. James Clyburn. THREAD 👇

I totally forgot that the first quarter of the movie Speed features a slightly hunky Jeff Daniels mentoring Keanu Reeves through a different bombing situation than the bus-centric one in the rest of the movie.

“Vaxx and relax” was never a good strategy for Covid. The vaccines are great at keeping people out of hospital, but they don’t stop transmission and they don’t prevent Long Covid. Those of us who know this never stopped masking. With the US restricting vaccines, it’s time to mask back up!
