This show was a good time. We played well and the new song was fun to play live. Next up - opening for Sweeping Promises in Richmond at Cobra Cabana on Saturday, Nov. 14! Only our second show outta town and likely our last one for the year. It will be a good one, great venue and a great headliner.
Next Radon Abatement show is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 17. We are playing with old friends & good musicians/band Ostinato, who apparently have a whole set of new songs! Who knows, maybe we will have a new song as well. Time will tell! Hope to see some of you there, should be a good time.
This radio show really does rule. I heard it in real time but just listened again. Erin just plays killer shit whenever she does a show.
Hey Radon Abatement plays tomorrow night. To get in the mood you could go listen to our own Erin O's latest radio show. She doesn't do them often these days but they are always packed with good shit, if weird rock/punk/art bullshit (a compliment) is your thing: www.wtju.net/recent-shows...

One song she played that I think just rules is this Optic Sink tune. An extremely pleasant mix of cool bass lines, synths, & drum programming. A kind of tough new-wave-y sound, but that isn't quite the right description. Just expertly crafted music/sonics: opticsink.bandcamp.com/track/laughi...
The next one being this Debt Rag song, which brings me a lotta joy. 100 other bands could try these moves & fail, but they just nail it to the wall. Fun, very weird, occasionally joyous, often abrasive. Not for everyone but damn is this song great imo: postpresentmedium.bandcamp.com/track/solar-...
Just a few days away. Looking forward to carting out the gear and playing for some folks. Well, there is no joy in carting the gear, but the playing for folks doesn't happen without the gear so here we are. (there is joy in using the gear)

Hey this show is a week away! Head on out if you are in or around Charlottesville, it will be a good time. We are definitely going to have a new song to roll out live for the first time.

It's a rainy day here in Charlottesville. Feeling like fall a bit, which is when "Bells" was originally recorded (October of 2001 to be precise). I think this piece, & this performance of it, fit the season & time of year well, if long-form, noisy-ish, saturated drone/layered sound is your thing.
There is now a recording of our set on Friday up. It is called "Twenty Five Year Bells." We first conceptualized and recorded "Bells" in 2001 (though we have played it a few times over the years in between). Felt good to play it again: grand-banks.bandcamp.com/album/twenty...
As one of our loyal listeners & friends noted, twenty five years of playing & living is kind of packed into this performance, as it is in all of our performances these days and beyond. Grand Banks is the sound of two people navigating the world as best we can over, and within, time. It is the sound.
The Radon Abatement album has now been out for 5 months. Hard to believe, feels both like yesterday & 2 years ago we released it lol. A small amount of tapes are left so still a chance to get one if you wanna. Thanks to all who have taken a listen/interest radonabatement.bandcamp.com/album/radon-...
Hey this show is in a little under two weeks from now. Happy to get back at it. As a band we don't tend to play too many local shows, as really it is a small town and how many times can your friends be expected to come see you? Should be a fun one though. Ostinato is a great live band.

Going to post this a few more times to catch the varied flow of this place. If you've ever like Grand Banks you will likely like this. Probably one of our best sets, certainly one of our more layered/interesting ones (though still our typical move of playing an uninterrupted 30 minutes +/- of music)

This show was excellent, as expected. All the bands were good, but it was especially cool to see Helene's band do their thing. A cool, interesting sound. Basically did a good job capturing the general feel of the record, which is excellent weirdo art pop: helenebarbier.bandcamp.com/album/panorama
Good show in Richmond, VA tonight: Helene Barbier, Added Dimensions, Kitchenette, & Graphic Violets. A fun set of different approaches to "good rock music," whatever that means to you. I will be there having a (I imagine) good time. My second time hanging at Studio Two Three. Looking forward to it.

I think this is one of the best sets @averysafecat.bsky.social and I have played in some time, if not one of the best sets we have played doing this kind of thing. Feel lucky to still get to do it. This was a special night for all kinds of reasons but in particular I am glad we got to do this.
Was very gratifying to navigate “Bells” again (not a cover of all the other songs named “Bells,” our own. Every band of weirdos should have a piece called “Bells”). I think the original rendition was fully realized as well, as we needed to it that way to realize ourselves at that time.
It is entirely possible that last night's show, in which Grand Banks played a 25 year old song the way we would have then if we had had the gear, was an inchoate whirlpool of feedback, pealing bells, and scrambled tapes. If so then it may have been the most fully realized rendition of "Bells" ever.
Coming up in a couple of days. Tyler and I both have show flyers in the art show portion of the event (which will stay up until some time in November) and of course we are gonna play. Music should start a little after 8pm. Should be a very cool evening.
A week away. I think @averysafecat.bsky.social and I are gonna have whole new levels of murk for this one. Will it be the murkiest Grand Banks set ever? Hard to say, but there will be primo murk regardless.

Really cool art show with a little music coming up on Friday, Oct. 2 at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville. The show will feature graphic works (fliers, handbills, calendars ...) for shows at Tokyo Rose over the course of its existence, as well as photos and ephemera! This is going to be very cool!

Grand Banks (myself & @averysafecat.bsky.social) will also play a set. We played there a number of times on the back end of Tokyo Rose's run, and may be one of the few bands that has kept playing for most of the time since, with a break here and there. Looking forward to playing very much.
Erin O has done another Black Circle Revolution radio show, and while I am admittedly very biased here, I feel safe saying that it rules. Definitely help if one likes weird punk/rock music of varied and excellent types. Many new records, many cool bands, a true delight: www.wtju.net/recent-shows...

Stoked to be sharing a bill with Old Saw at Sage Bird Cider in Harrisonburg Va on 9.27. See you there! lobbyartrecs.bandcamp.com/album/the-wr...
Portland folks, tonight is the night to catch Added Dimensions in your city! Playing with the singular and very cool Collate as well as Byproxy (probably good as well!). I wish I could teleport out for this one, I am sure it will be a good time.
Hey, Erin O is hitting the west coast as part of the Added Dimensions touring crew. They are sounding sick live these days, I highly recommend going and checking them out! Playing w/ quite a few sick bands as well, including Collate, Neutrals, The Intima, Liquid Cross, etc. Catch 'em if you can!
Next batch of these Added Dimensions shows (which Erin O is playing) are kicking off TONIGHT in Eugene, Oregon. Sick line-up of AD + Collate + Liquid Cross. All very good bands, and having seen Collate live once I wish I was getting to see them again. Should be a great night if one is around.

Hey this Added Dimensions tour is starting ... today! The band has made it to the west coast so tonight's show should be good to go. Playing with Neutrals, who are great, and a couple of other that are probably good too. If you are in or around San Francisco head on out.

Today is Bandcamp Friday, consider checking out my new multimedia documentary project The Witness Tree. The track posted uses sounds from a juvenile loblolly pine on the edge of the expanding Chesapeake ghost forests in the Northern Neck peninsula. Pre order today! The Witness Tree-Daniel Bachman
On a jag of thinking of songs that bring me joy every time I hear them & in fact are things I put on pretty regularly simply to feel good. 100s of bands try to hit this sweet spot but most don't/can't. Not for everyone but man I love this band. Pure noise pop delight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlOO...
Just realized that the Radon Abatement album has been "out" for four months. Really we didn't have the tapes ready until July and that was supposed to be when we released it but hey there are no rules when you do it all yourself. Still very proud of it: radonabatement.bandcamp.com/album/radon-...
