While every news site and Hollywood name remember Val Kilmer, who sadly passed away on Tuesday - X, formerly Twitter, ("the public town square" and "more credible than the traditional news media [Elon Musk]" is quite clear that his death has been..."falsely reported".

So, what are the alternatives to Spotify now that it is driven by AI slop? I am certainly looking into it.

Ed Newton-Rex@ednewtonrex.bsky.social

It’s somewhat good that Spotify will start labelling ‘AI personas’. But it still refuses to label the one thing that actually matters: AI-generated music. 🧵 1/4

Today is a huge win for creatives around the world, as Australia makes it clear it will not bow to pressure from AI companies to legalise the theft of creatives’ work. 🧵 1/3

More very wrong news from Grok. Labour won the Makerfield by-election with 55% of the vote. Partly due to the 6.2% surge in turnout - the biggest increase for a by-election since 1958. Groks opinion? "crushing by-election defeat". The grey text at the bottom doesn't excuse this level of wrong.

Internet Adverts have been unethical for quite some time, but in the era of AI, adverts can now have a high level of "visual exaggeration" :). Like here a YouTube Ad that sells Tai Chi exercises via Mr.Universe avatars that try to look like Shao Lin monks (there were 2 in this 1 ad).

The avatars even appear shirtless in "Ted Talk" style settings. That would be absolutely fine. I image it's normal and even expected at a Ted Talk for a random audience member to ask how her husband can get get the full benefits of Tai Chi. "start small" is the key it seems...

The other sellers of Tai Chi Super Hero training are after me now. I have done Tai Chi before, many years ago and its quite a laid back art. One thing it is not is super muscle building.

The algorithm has locked me in for these adverts now. Clearly any interest at all = show more and charge their customer for better quality "interested" eyes. My interest is mainly hilarity. This one address the complaints...

Brutal (but fair) Guardian headline today Only 3% of respondents to the UK government’s consultation on AI & copyright supported their unfair plan to hand AI companies people’s work for free. 95% said AI companies should license training data. 🧵 1/2

Ethics is part of Data Governance. AI is just another technology solution your pay for or build, and is subject to your Data Governance framework. The concepts, controls and processes around this are free and available.

Big companies have teams and budgets for AI ethics. Small firms? They're often left deploying black box systems with no way to audit them. The resource gap in responsible AI is creating two very different realities. #AIethics #SMEs #ResponsibleAI readysaltedcode.substack.com/p/the-small-...

There are legal implications behind social media posts made to fit a fake persona or appeal to a certain group. You can be legally punished for those. Is the recognition that an AI could be making it up better or worse for social cohesion and free speech? Will people be punished the same way?

Wow… Imagine how boring it will be to text in 2030. Most people haven't realized it yet, but a major disempowerment-by-design wave is already here:

Hopefully the government can avoid locking into new contracts with Google for what is essentially untested technology. Replacing multiple tech contracts for one could be far worse for the tax payer.

It didn't occur to me that people would be so bad at their job that they would use GenAI for it. Not to help or supplement, but to provide the solution. It was not built for that. Professionals should be struck of for this abuse.

GenAI enshittification goes big time

It's not a huge surprise that a GenAI will respond to a fake image as if it is true. It will assume it is, what else could it do? Though a GenAI that actively tries to deduce the truth could be even more amusing.

Jason Voorhees Darr@jasondtx.bsky.social

If you reverse image search this with Google, the AI will tell you this is highlighting a "controversial past tweet" from Mamdani. It calls "his" tweet highly insensitive and says it trivializes what happens that day.

Has anyone tracked the downfall of Google quality since the retirement of the "Don't be evil" goal? The days of using Google as a main search engine are long gone.

In just a few years, Google went from being the gold standard to literally being compared with mold. Why is Sundar still the CEO?
