President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva came from behind to win Brazil’s runoff election, halting a right-wing wave sweeping Latin America and defying predictions that the 80-year-old political veteran had finally reached the end of his extraordinary career. bloom.bg/4BsvV24 📷: Maira Erlich/Bloomberg

This way, the media will treat him as a Non-MAGA candidate when he runs for president.

I'm puzzled by Marco Rubio's role as Secretary of State. Why are Witkoff and Kushner taking the lead on major negotiations over war and peace, rather than America's chief diplomat?

Just go see the Ringo film 4 times.

Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...)

I don't want to live in a dystopian 1970s movie.

Pete Hegseth says Americans will be able to watch a Trump-approved firing-squad execution. If he follows through, the U.S. could join a disturbing club of countries known for public executions—including Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea.

Good stuff

Troy Jackson: "As late as 2024, the FBI was circling around Sen. Collins ... then when President Trump came back, his administration dismantled the investigation. Now she votes with Donald Trump 96% of the time. Look, I don't owe Donald Trump nothing."

Hard to argue.

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

"Concern"

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

"Some Republicans have expressed concern that a small but growing faction of younger people in the party have interacted with or expressed fealty to white nationalist and racist ideologies that have long been considered fringe." O RLY

Starting to think they won't support UBI, after all...

The “head of strategic futures” at OpenAI just went on an unhinged rant against social security sometimes I feel like these tech companies are actively trying to alienate as many normal people as possible

Don't do this

"more than a quarter of Gen Z investors saying they see gambling on sports as part of their long-term financial strategy,...More than half of young investors said they had redirected money originally earmarked for investing into sports betting over the past year," www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I don't think Hong lost solely because she's DSA/Left. I think she lost because primary voters assessed that she wasn't good at politics.

One reason Social Security is running short of money in 2032 is because a small number of voters, faced w/a choice of voting for the guy who promised to use Clinton’s surplus for tax cuts & guy who promised a Social Security lock box, couldn’t figure out the Butterfly Ballot in Palm Beach County.

I've seen and endorse about half of these. Interesting list!

The overwhelming right wing sentiment is that COVID was an engineered bioweapon that was also harmless. Trump overreacted to it by shutting down the country, then engineered a drive to create a vaccine that was the real bioweapon that killed millions, and it's Joe Biden's fault.

This guy is good.

Ossoff: "Each day his allies are fewer & even they no longer deny his corruption, the obscene self-dealing while he plunges nation deeper into reckless war while he rakes in billions & builds himself ballroom & prepares again to attack elections. Let's be clear, one man attempted fraud in GA: Trump"

Seeing a lot of fellow Kerry people being gracious in defeat which I have nothing but contempt for. I am a real fan and am already conjuring a new, more wicked curse that will not only see that none of those young men wins an All-Ireland again but will bring death and illness to all they hold dear.

Titanic, Avatar, The English Patient, Damage, Class, and Dave come to mind. I'm pretty good at avoiding things I *know* I'll hate.

In the realm of questions posed during Senate hearings, this one from Ossoff -- "Isn't it humiliating to be unable to answer this?" -- ranks right up there with "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?"

OSSOFF: Who won the 2020 election? CLAYTON: Uhm, you know, I'm not going to do this with you O: This is a job interview. You have an obligation to be honest with the committee. Who won the 2020 election? C: I'm not gonna get into that with you O: You're not being honest or forthright C: ...
