NEW: 1) A pulse check on Christian nationalism's (ugly) thriving 2) Receipts on the US' founding as secular/pluralistic 2) A lesser-discussed backstory on how the Right ascended (hint: they deliberately jacked progressive tactics) 3) What this & other wisdom teaches about how we can win today.

If you send me a fundraising letter and the envelope is marked with any of the following words, I’ll know that I can’t trust anything you say: URGENT CONFIDENTIAL OPPORTUNITY AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

“You may have heard otherwise, so let’s set the record straight: People love going to the movie theater.” If I wanted to be snarky, I would point out that Brooks Barnes has been saying otherwise for more than a decade, and he’s almost always been wrong.

In my 20 years writing about movies I have learned something: studios seem to take the wrong lessons from a summer like the one we just had. Here's the right one. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/02/m...

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Shavuot, the holiday about receiving the Torah on Sinai begins tonight, and it's customary to eat sweet dairy. But the question of *why* dairy on this holiday is the subject of much debate-- and many great (and some very, very funny) Torah answers:

Leave a comment for the FCC, they want to warn ppl when a show contains a trans character. Your comment doesn't have to be long, you can literally just say it's discriminatory, offensive and absurd. In the first box put: 19-41. More info in this thread.

Book censorship has so many far-reaching consequences, especially in the world of children’s publishing. Whoever your audience, if you’re an author you should be screaming about this.

Where and How Book Censorship Is Impacting Children’s Publishing Right Now. Publishing imprints for young readers are shuttering thanks to a softening school and library market. That's the result of book censorship. bookriot.com/book-bans-an...

a) This is correct, the mainstream J orgs benefiting from fucking MamdaniWatch etc are not going to give him props for this b) said same orgs / groups STILL do not get that the REAL antisemitic threat is the WHITE SUPREMACY in POWER c) collective liberation or bust (linking to convenient list)

jewishdems.orgDonald Trump’s Antisemitic RecordDonald Trump and his administration have a long history of antisemitism. Read more on his record here:

The fact that Mamdani criticized Susan Abulhawa - who has pretty definitively crossed the line between anti-Zionism and antisemitism - should be a reason for Jewish organizations to thank him for showing solidarity. But I'm not holding my breath.
