Finally got my hands on this (complete with spredge). Suspect it will be full-on fan service, and (meaning absolutely no disrespect to how wonderfully the character was both written and performed), I'm a wee bit long in the tooth for bad boy vampire twinks ;)

Having said that, tho, #BG3 was a work of glorious genius, its cast and interactions were great, and I really hope we see more of the characters realised in book form! #thisgroupisfullofweirdos

For this morning's job, we return to the now-completed manuscript, you know, the one we've read four hundred times already and can't see any more, and read it again, checking for greeblies and errant Bobs. Lesson No. 574 as to why writers need editors.

And more good news. Let's have some of this over here, shall we? And for our friends in the US?

Flávio Bolsonaro had his passport confiscated by the Brazilian fed police as his brother Eduardo told him to flee to the US. He is tied to paramilitary gangs, is being investigated & lost his legislative immunity when he left the Senate to run for president. paydayreport.com/brazilian-fe...

Good morning, lovely people. #Tea.

China’s first AI-generated theatrical feature has flopped, earning just $181,000 in its first weekend. By contrast, the scrappy ‘Niu Lai’ turned its crude animation into a viral attraction, grossing nearly $10 million a couple of months ago. www.cartoonbrew.com/box-office-r...

Something in my eye 😢

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Oh no. Remembered not only for Trek, but for his role in Bab5. This year is downright cruel 💔

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

Jesus Hairy sledgehammering Christ. HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW THIS ABOUT YOUR OWN CHILD. WHAT KIND OF FUCKING PARENT-- Sorry. Waaaay too early for all caps ranting. But MAJOR fucking Parenting Fail, right there.

Look at this beast. Forty-eight hours of being utterly claustro, tearing round the house, banging his jingly balls (stop it) constantly round the floor, staring out of the cat-flap, demanding we turn off the weather... ...he's now sleeping like butter wouldn't melt. Why do we love them so much?!

1) Basic 'red box' D&D, then AD&D, very quickly afterwards 2) CyberPunk 2013, then 2020 3) MechWarrior (couldn't tell you the incarnation) 4) WFRPs (briefly) 5) Vampire: The Masquerade (quite a bit later)

Jim Zub@jimzub.com

My first 5 TTRPGs in the order I played them: 1) Dungeons & Dragons (BX + AD&D) 2) Heroes Unlimited 3) Marvel Super Heroes (TSR) 4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness 5) Call of Crhulhu

Despite the recent bollocks, the support and understanding of autism, ADHD and other neurodivergences. Raised in the Seventies and Eighties, these things simply Did Not Exist, and some people were just 'weird', 'antisocial' 'difficult', refusing to fit in' and so on. Now, we understand and can help

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Absolutely not. With suitable timing, there's been a spate of novels published, for a franchise I do genuinely love and have done for four decades, which read suspiciously like they've had AI involvement. Don't know for sure, but the text is so awful, bland and empty, repetitive and passionless...

A few more from the demolition of Anglia Square from the day before yesterday. Two wings left now. It’s a very strange and quite a sad sight for anyone who lives in this area and even vaguely understands the community.

<Might> have been Herbie Rides Again, in '74? I do remember eight of us, going to see Star Wars in '77, taken by someone's Dad, and I do know that I'd been to that cinema before. Vague half-images of either 101 Dalmatians or Aristocats, but neither have the right release dates. So, a best guess!

Mark Thompson@markreckons.bsky.social

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

The thing I remember is that half the auditorium was smoking, and half non-smoking. And if I looked over, I coud see the patterns and curls of smoke in the light from the projector.

"How did you get into tabletop role-playing games?" 1988. I was 19, at Uni, and knew about D&D tho' had never played. My then BF ran a one-shot for he and I, then introduced me to his gaming group. I statted a cleric, who later got reincarnated a minotaur, then an Irda for a DragonLance campaign.

"How did you get into tabletop roleplaying games?" I got talked into trying it by various friends but I loved the idea of immersive and interactive storytelling with no more than imagination. #ttrpg #indierpgs

I've been role-playing ever since, lots #dungeonsanddragons, many <many> years of a huge #CyberPunk campaign (where Ecko and Lugan originated), and a lot of other stuff: World of Darkness (mostly Vampire), MechWarrior, Blue Planet, and various home-grown goodies, including one written for Aliens.

This whole thing is brutal, and heartbreaking. I lost <hours> to the old Baldur's Gate games, and to NeverWinter Nights :(

Resharing this because it's such a formative memory... To most people BioWare means Mass Effect / Dragon Age, but NWN was revolutionary - the "Western RPG Maker". It's the only entry on the CRPG Book with 4 pages, because 2 are just about its Aurora Toolset. Hell, we have The Witcher because of it!

The UN tells us that the world is 'falling dangerously short' on climate action. Last Summer was the hottest on record. El Nino will make the Winter terrifying. But I guess those investors just aren't making enough moolah, are they?

Zack Polanski@zackpolanski.bsky.social

Today's decision by Labour to approve new drilling in the North Sea is climate vandalism. It's a betrayal of all of our futures, and Labour has abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change. This is a victory for Shell over the people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw...

Can you help #DoctorWho #TargetBookClub? BBC Books had organised a Target Book Shop but it's fallen through. Do you know a cuddly trader who'd like a free table to sell Dr Who books? Maybe old Targets like the market stalls of our childhood?

So, medical appointment has turned up gallstones. Only teeny ones, but possibly requiring removal in case they block my bile duct or anything icky. Be a week 'til I get the results properly, but what fun this getting old business is, hey! 🤦‍♀️

And <still> keeps coming! Hell, I might even crack a smile at the morning's news, and that's a genuine rarity, these days.

Aged 21, just after leaving Uni, I walked out of a waitressing job after less than one shift. Was a local business, perfectly nice from the front, but the kitchen was one of the single most unspeakable things I've ever seen. Not sure anyone had ever cleaned it properly, and that was quite enough 🤢

No ISBNs in Canada for AI writing. This is a fantastic policy, and every country should do the same. www.canada.ca/en/library-a...

Also in good news, this MS is VERY nearly done. Every one is a different journey, and this one's had a lead character that I genuinely like, plus a secondary character that may just be all-time fave. The first half of the story went absolutely swimmingly, then the second half turned into a 'mare.

You never know, when you start out, what the journey will be, what it will teach and show you, and how it will develop as it goes along. Sometimes it goes to places you really don't expect, and these can be the best things of all :)
