Writing my first native Android app in a decade, only to find out that Jetpack Compose is basically... React?

on the bright side, all the brain space that was used up by Fragments and ListViews is now free for more song lyrics.

Going on a career break to stay on top of my houseplant watering schedule and free some USB-C cables to charge everything 😌

Retweeting this, just because it seems not enough papers at #CHI2026 are declaring their relevance to AI: #makeit100percent #ensureAIrelevanceNow

Ian Arawjo@ianarawjo.bsky.social

To date, HCI researchers have had no support on signaling their paper's relevance to AI, esp. when that connection is tenuous at best. We introduce a systematic framework to ensure LLMs are mentioned at every stage of paper reporting—from framing, to evaluation, to implications.

dev log 001 - just wanted a sticky header to have a shadow that fades in after scroll. Firefox still has scroll-driven animations behind a flag. So now for the hackiest css-only solution: - sticky shadow under header - absolute white shadow over it to hide it pre-scroll Am I overcomplicating this?

I’ve got some free time coming up. Should I rewrite all my GitHub repos, catch up on the ten-plus ideas I’ve been planning to work on for the last few years, or finally build the portfolio I keep thinking I need?
