After a few months of hard work, we're happy to announce the initial @unplugin-pwa v0.0.2 packages! We completely rearchitected the core. Just look at the diet: we went from 321 total dependencies down to just 22, cutting the install size from 43.3MB to 4.1MB. Leaner, faster, and bundler-agnostic.

Rebuilt Iconify API servers network. Old servers were running for almost 3 years, time to switch to new ones. New servers have 4gb of memory instead of 2gb and faster hardware. There should be no downtime or reduced performance.

Iconify just received first ever DMCA notice. Notice is related to URL at Iconify API. It seems to be spam, whole notice makes 0 sense, but now I have to explain it to both Cloudflare (hosting domains) and Vultr (hosting actual servers). Is this something to worry about?

To make it clearer, offending URL is Iconify API link to get "whatsapp" icon. URL it seems to offend is about a football match.

Added 3 more icon sets to Iconify. Now there are 227 icon sets with 401k icons! Recent additions (including 2 more added last week) are very well designed and coded. Those icon sets are pleasure to work with. If I'm not mistaken, all were designed in Figma. It is brilliant for making icons.

Current stats: 222 icon sets, 367704 icons. Components are rendered as SVG+CSS, where .css files include all attributes and SVG includes only tags with class names. This massively reduces HTML size by moving majority of code to CSS.

Good news. GitLab seems to work flawlessly! I've also kept code that published on GitHub, seems to work now - detecting missing branches and re-publishing them makes them appear. At least for now. If nothing else goes wrong, I'll maintain packages in both, but will recommend GitLab to users.

Earlier today I've announced migration of icon packages from NPM to GitHub. Well... that failed. Branches on GitHub started randomly disappearing. GitHub supposed to have limit of 5k branches per repo, but cannot handle mere 200 branches. Did not expect that. Need to rethink it...

After debugging, I've noticed that it is the same branches disappearing in all 4 repositories. All those branches are for icon sets that have many icons, thus many files: over 10k files. I don't see such limit anywhere in docs and what's worse is branches disappearing without error.

Due to NPM issues, icon components for Vue, Svelte, React and SolidJS have been migrated from NPM to GitHub. From now on, you can install components from branches of repositories: github.com/iconify/icon... Readme has long explanation. NPM packages will eventually be deprecated. 1/2

github.comGitHub - iconify/icons-vue: 200+ open source icon sets as Vue components200+ open source icon sets as Vue components. Contribute to iconify/icons-vue development by creating an account on GitHub.

Iconify has generated components for each icon set for Vue, Svelte, React and Solid, such as "@iconify-vue/mdi". That's almost 1k packages! Due to NPM registry issues I'm currently moving them to GitHub. NPM client can install from GitHub, so NPM registry can be avoided. Long post coming later...

After migration, those ~1k packages can be installed from GitHub (replace framework and icon set prefix): npm install github:iconify/icons-vue#mdi

Iconify is constantly growing, domain has passed a big milestone: 10 billion requests in last 30 days! It is a double of what it was a year ago. While project is free, servers cost money. If you are using Iconify, please consider supporting the project: iconify.design/sponsors/

Short version of possibly upcoming long post: open source funding for Iconify failed. I don't post much. Project works, many people use it, not much to post about. When I do mention funding there are some replies, but close to 0 actual help. Next steps are either sale of Iconify or API shut down.

Major update to icons filter on Iconify website and in Figma plugin: AI search is now used when filtering icons in an icon set. New version shows related matches, making it easy to find icons by related words. icon-sets.iconify.design Screenshot: before (left) and after (right):

Added more open source icon sets to Iconify. There are now 218 icon sets with 317k icons! Hosting that many icons on API is expensive. Traffic is massive (attached stats). Please do consider supporting Iconify if you can, as current support barely covers hosting: iconify.design/sponsors/

Iconify has reached a new milestone: over 300k open source icons! Huge thanks to all developers that release open source icons and maintain them. Most developers don't realise how many amazing open source icon sets exist.

Yay, another day, another email from "security researcher" about CVE "discovered" in a package I've published. And yet again, it is AI slop. At first glance it seems like solid CVE, but yet again relies on unrealistic scenario user has no access to. I'm tired of AI slop.

Automated deployments have been very unreliable lately with NPM. Usually NPM fails to download and install packages for about 20-30 minutes after new version has been published. But today, deploy failed because NPM thinks "@vue/shared" 3.5.39 (released 2 days ago) does not exist.

Added support for Astro to Iconify Unplugin: github.com/iconify/icon... However, it is not recommended because icons are generated by splitting SVG to SVG + CSS, which all browsers support, except for Safari. Use islands with Vue, Svelte or React components instead, which have Safari fallback.

Spent last 2 full days coding in Zed... and I'm not planning to go back to VSCode. Zed is very impressive! There are minor annoyances and quirks, mostly related to syntax highlight and functionality of code autocomplete, but it is significantly faster and works perfectly in large monorepos.

I'm experiencing a huge issue with VSCode for last 2 days: import suggestions no longer work in any project. Nothing new installed recently. Disabled all extensions, VSCode is still broken. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

New feature on Iconify icon sets website: select multiple icons, generate bundles in various formats. It can export multiple icons as bundles, SVG and CSS sprites, components for several frameworks, raw data. You can load and save selected icons. Website: icon-sets.iconify.design Demo:

About a week ago I got rid of infinite scroll for icons on Iconify website. Didn't realise how bad it affected SEO until I looked at search performance emails. Last month: 192k impressions, 4.43k clicks 2 years ago: 2.07m impressions, 106k clicks. Infinite scroll was such a bad idea!

We've just published patch releases of devalue, Svelte, and SvelteKit that fix a number of vulnerabilities. No need to panic — they're all hard to exploit or reliant on experimental features — but we recommend updating as soon as you get a chance. More details in the advisories:

New Iconify icon sets website no longer has infinite scrolling for icons. However, now it has more settings for icons list: - Layout: large icons with names, medium or small without names. - Size of icons. - Number of icons per page. - viewBox outline. icon-sets.iconify.design Demo below:
