It can be hard to measure the impact you are having. I try to reach stakeholders with our research in all sorts of ways. Academic publications are one, but not even the most important way. Still, I am happy to have achieved the personal milestone of 1k + citations. lnkd.in/p/dRzDa-6z

The risks of overshoot are clear but so too are the actions that we need to take to keep 1.5 degrees in reach. 1. Stop burning fossil fuel 2. Reduce methane emission 3. Protect nature These are all things that can be done... #LimitingOvershoot

Global warming is set to cross 1.5°C, pushing climate risks and impacts to increasingly dangerous heights, a new UNEP report warns.   Predicted impacts include extreme weather and threats to human health and economies.

This was such a great paper to work on, with a great team, so I was delighted when we got the news yesterday that is has been selected as standout open access Irish research paper for 2025 @ioppublishing.bsky.social As @colmduff.bsky.social makes clear in his article below, methane is methane.

This time last we published a paper on temperature neutrality. Really happy to see that its been selected by IOP for their collection of standout research published in Ireland for 2025. I have shared a few thoughts on LinkedIn as to why this research is as important as ever. lnkd.in/p/dmQPRs2e

Academic scrutiny is important, but how this man was treated is an absolute disgrace. His accuser set out to incite a, all too willing, mob. Cambridge didn't do enough to protect a vulnerable employee with a disability. The media dogged him relentlessly. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Fellow reviewers 📣: Anonymity is a tool for honesty, not a license for cruelty. Opening a review with "This is poorly written" is unhelpful and unprofessional. Give specific, actionable critique. We’re here to improve the research and build the field up, not tear people down.

If this is accurate, it would seem that @saic-edu.bsky.social is less concerned about critical thinking and education of students and more re-education of staff. ‘We call it the P-word’: Chicago professor suspended after assignment mentions Palestinians www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

In their Letter to the Editor published in the Irish Times @irishtimes.com, the scientists set the record straight by rebutting multiple errors in John FitzGerald's opinion piece last week: "Framing the debate as a false dichotomy...distracts from the real choices" www.irishtimes.com/opinion/lett...

Paul Price@swimsure.bsky.social

John FitzGerald's @irishtimes.com article today grossly misrepresents scientists, science & economics –No, scientists do not say "eliminate all cattle from our fields" [our?] –Sci critiqued CCAC "climate neutrality" test –CCAC's key scenarios also show deep methane cuts – 🇮🇪 dairy is NOT "efficient"

Our response to Prof FitzGerald calls for scientific rigour, ambition, transparency and a good-faith public debate on the real choices facing Irish society.
