Folks are waaaay overthinking AI p(doom). We won’t be killed by one “unaligned” superintelligence. We’ll be killed by a digital zombie apocalypse: stupid but relentless agents that copy, mutate, and copy until the arteries of global infrastructure collapse, clogged with heartworms.

The incredible team at @bomb.sh has been absolutely dominating. New bomb router is slick. Tty is best in class for tui. Prompts are really well done. Everything is slick slick slick, well packages, small code size. Ridiculously OP team.

some extremely cool ideas in our new statically typed router! in keeping with our ethos, @bomb.sh/router is not a framework, but a composable building block. supports standardschema.dev for args and allows routes to be resolved lazily

Org format READMEs (a project's most public artifact) have been broken since Friday, which it erodes faith in the platform. Like if there's poo all over the front door, and nobody's been out to see it or clean it up, sure makes me wonder what's going on inside the house. github.com/orgs/communi...

I always thought the lyric was: "Now that your rose is in bloom, the light hits the _rune_ on the grave." And let's be honest here. That is superior imagery.

@bomb.sh/tty is the low-level layout engine and input parser that powers our forthcoming tui libraries. think we can get this even smaller, but our baseline is now v0.9.0 at 113 kB (0 deps) compared to v0.6.0 at 830 kB (0 deps) @opentui/core at 21 MB (9 deps) ink at 7.8 MB (36 deps)

@bomb.sh/tty v0.9.0 is out! 🙌 💢 improved border defaults 🥕 hardware-driven caret rendering 💬 unicode 17 support 🧠 up to 50% memory reduction 🤏 size optimization (down to 113 kB install size) and we have a changelog now github.com/bombshell-de...

When we started out, it felt a bit lonely taking on such a colossal climb by ourselves, but not any more! Turns out, they were already well on their way up the mountain, and since we've teamed up with @natemoo.re @paulvall.dev and the rest of the @bomb.sh team, it feels like flying instead.

exciting news! we've partnered with @frontside.com together we're bringing their work on clayterm into the ecosystem as @bomb.sh/tty, a high-performance wasm renderer for terminal apps and we're jointly contributing $400/mo to support maintenance of the underlying clay layout engine

working with @frontside.com (@cogentdude.com and @jacobbolda.com) on this rendering engine has been stellar, and i'm thrilled they've joined the @bomb.sh core team. better together! tty is a smaller, faster, more powerful terminal rendering engine, and it's just the start bomb.sh/docs/tty

I used @dreamhost.bsky.social for my sites for over 15 years before switching over to github pages. Their support was personal and second to none, and it's good to see them still around. If I weren't a developer there's no doubt I'd be with them still. Highly recommend for non-technical folks.

This won't be the last time I whine about the conscientious juice buyer's conundrum: that all the fresh squeezed juices are sold in plastic, and all the stuff sold in cartons is from concentrate.

Further experimentation with input methods and focus stacks in @bomb.sh Notice how focus cycling is constrained to just the dialog box when it opens, but then returns to the main form when it is closed.

👀 @bomb.sh/tty will deliver some genuinely novel features like input cursor rendering via native terminal, css-like pointer support for mouse mode, and huge size/performance gains over existing alternatives watch this space (and consider chipping in at bomb.sh/donate)

Fun times! A draft implementation of placing a native cursor anywhere inside a @bomb.sh/tty layout

I love it when a model comes together. This time, spiking out focus cycling and text editing with native cursors for @bomb.sh Special bonus: pluggable editing keymaps! (this demo uses readline bindings)

If you use Emacs, I highly recommend `agent-shell` github.com/xenodium/age... It's like the `magit` for agents that other IDEs will be cribbing off of for the next 10 years. If you already use it, you should consider sponsoring @xenodium.bsky.social to keep its capabilities growing

The category error is in the wishful thinking that the physics of software development and delivery have changed. They haven't. The only difference is in the scale of the masses involved.

The real winner for AI enhanced software practice is for engineering teams to achieve levels of precision and excellence never before thought possible. Sorry to say, but if your strategy is centered around cost savings and not "hire the best humans", you're fucked.

Real excited for more of this. Just need to figure out how to buy more time to play with it!

glyph coverage for borders/curves is particularly poor, so subcell precision for those does require fancy kitty graphics support but we'll use the highest fidelity we can—the second row in the fill demo below renders in any terminal because eighth-blocks provide subcell precision using only glyphs

When my daughter was four years old and I'd instruct her not to do something she would often reply "but you don't understand, I *want* to" I think about this often whenever the most explicit constraint directives do not in actuality constrain an agent's behavior.

Multiple anecdotes from folks outside the software-o-verse complaining about a general decrease in software quality as of late. Anybody know of data that tracks this kind of trend?
