One of my favorite parts of writing the story was discovering more about the native flora and fauna of central Minnesota. It ignited a passion in me for native gardening and ethnobotany that only grows with time.

I had the first chapter written before that day was over, and I sat on it for over a year. Then in early spring of 2022, I began spending every Saturday at a local coffee shop with my typewriter. The story grew in many unexpected directions, often thanks to the creative insights of my friends.

I genuinely believe data centers should be legally required to pay a $1,000 surcharge per $1 of energy used (at standard consumer rates), and at least 50% has to be redistributed to consumers as an energy rebate. They want to strain the grid? Make them pay dearly for it.

This is what we mean when we say that "AI safety" is a eugenicist project. They fear an ultra-powerful AGI that may kill us all. Meanwhile, this Colossus 1 data center is already killing Black people in Memphis.

We tried to warn you about Anthropic. Now they're using xAI's ultra-polluting community-killing nightmare data centre to power your toxic claude relationship All the new paid subs from @rutgerbregman.com and @quitgpt.bsky.social's campaign, now powered by Musk 🫠 www.anthropic.com/news/higher-...

Ah, Minnesota winters. The quiet, frigid air, the sparkling snow, the wrens frozen solid to their tree branches. I jest, but it really is one of the reasons I moved to this state. Nonetheless, glad that it's warming up a bit. Hello, mud season! (And yes, I'm back.)

My Facebook feed is mostly AI slop photo galleries of “French Country Cottages” with hundreds of comments “So beautiful!” But last night was the first time I caught bad AI in a setup for an otherwise functional recipe. It was subtle and confusing. Too nonsensical to be a typo. AI doesn’t grok food.

Words can't describe the sheer amount of terror when I see old people I care about sharing theftbot-generated anything and not realizing (or knowing the obvious tells) that it was generated via theftbot. The internet truly is a cesspit now. defector.com/glossy-gunky...

FedEx: Failing Every Delivery EXpertly. My "next day" delivery package for work was supposed to be delivered by 12:20pm. Then by 8pm, guaranteed. It's now 9:38pm, and the tracking says by "end of day". Signature required. I ain't staying up until midnight!

Excuse me while I go blow chunks.

Missouri's AG Andrew Bailey is suing Starbucks, arguing that its workforce is too "female" and "non-white" and as a result Missouri consumers “pay higher prices and wait longer for goods and services" because its workforce is "less qualified" This is a brazenly racist and sexist lawsuit.

they are mostly targeting black employees so this is quite literally just a repeat of woodrow wilson’s segregationist purge of the federal government

Federal health workers are expressing fear and alarm after a website called “DEI Watch List” published the photos, names and public information of a number of workers across health agencies, describing them as “targets.”

this is one reason developers are finding a more receptive home on @bsky.app - and why they skipped the migration to mastodon, much to my regret

Sad to hear the "firesky for the fediverse" has been turned off Seems the best part of making things for social platforms is connecting people, and the worst part of making things for social platforms is also connecting people wedistribute.org/2025/02/fedi...

Interesting idea! I don't know how well it will work in practice if people start looking for the "missing releases" between epoch jumps, but maybe that's a holdover habit from SemVer. Curious to see where this will go in the future.

Anthony Fu@antfu.me

Proposing an extended SemVer - 🗿 Epoch Semantic Versioning to communicate better about versions. Thinking of adopting this to all my projects, and finally eliminating my lousy habit of forever zero-major practice 😜 What do you think? 👀 antfu.me/posts/epoch-...

I just had to explain to my German Shepherd that my adjusting the grandfather clock was not actually changing the time. The look of wonderment on her face changed to skepticism, and she looked to Mum to confirm if it was true. When Mum did, Laci Jane laid her head down with an air of disappointment.

And we spend significantly more on healthcare when compared to all other major countries. Is there a benefit for all this cost?

Some very interesting historical perspectives on the Christmas Creep.
