Mostly here to post pictures of closed captions; I don’t want to do it any more than you want to see it. Fan of lots of things. But like, don’t be weird about it ok? He/Him; giving you a finger gun, a wink, and a tongue click as he flees into the forest.

Last night the ghost of OJ Simpson told me that while the DOJ wastes its time trying to frame Luigi Mangione, the real killer is still out there plotting her or his next move.

Currently reading The Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe. The following sentence is such a subtle, arcane way to obscure a truly brutal characterization: “He mispronounced quite common words: urticate, salpinx, bordereau.” - Severin, describing Gurloes (63)

For a taste of what it feels like to see an American win at an international game, you could watch early rounds of the World Cup… or you could watch Demi Adejuyigbe’s current winning-streak on Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee.

I keep thinking about how much I liked The Mandalorian and Grogu. Saving a friend is more important than fighting an enemy. Rose Tico says “That’s how we’re going to win. Not fighting what we hate, saving what we love.”

Used to be that the fate of the Skywalkers’ souls and the fate of the galaxy were obviously and inextricably linked. Maybe Rotta’s soul won’t change the fate of the galaxy, or maybe it will; it is still important either way. I love the willingness of new Star Wars to keep the stakes personal.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu was awesome. The only semi-valid criticism I’ve heard is that it might have been better as a new season of the TV show or a Triple-A video game. Which is the inverse of the only semi-valid criticisms for the Andor series.

In my earliest memories I already loved Star Wars, but was not yet able to follow too much plot, so I thought there were like 10 movies. I still remember finally developing enough to understand that the Cloud City one and the Ice Planet one were the same movie.

Daredevil: Born Again is obviously a significant downgrade in quality from the Netflix era Daredevil/ Defenders. Jessica Jones: *throws a man through a wall, steps through the hole* Cop: *no reaction* Daredevil: *opens door, walks through, closes door behind him* Cop, panicked: *calls for backup*

You know what, Disney Star Wars has been mostly okay to good, and I'm tired of pretending otherwise. Except Rise of Skywalker, which was trying to retcon Last Jedi in direct response to "Star Wars fans" Never listen to Star Wars fans. We're awful.

While I understand the necessity of your “artist’s statement”, I still find it both pretentious AND presumptuous. and the smug explanation of your art. - Taskmaster, series 19

In Portland, OR: A decal left over from the last failed business to occupy this storefront, which has hosted at least 5 different businesses in the past 5 years. “SUCCESS IS A DECISION.” Sure it is, buddy.

Back in the 70s, there was a group of radical anarchic drag performers in San Francisco called The Cockettes who ran around the city doing weird art. This line from a documentary about them goes a long way toward explaining why something like that was possible back then.

I get bummed out regularly that kids can’t just come in from the country with a few hundred dollars and a dirtbag dream and rent the third or fourth shittiest hole of their lives and make a go of it

This closed caption doubles as a very pretentious description of Nia DaCosta’s excellent take on Hedda Gabler.

I understand the “make movies for the big screen” and the “save movie theaters” crowd just fine. But do y’all understand that if I sit down in a dark room and hear an overstimulating wall of sound then I will fall asleep every time?
