Very, very disappointed with the direction BlueSky has gone as of late. Being someone who primarily uses the website as a Twitter replacement, it's sad to see it becoming a cesspool full of AI shite, spambots and a healthy dose of up-their-own-arse directors to really sell the misery.

It's easy to just say "oh use an art site" when it's not your income. Thankfully, I don't rely on art as an income (would be dead and buried 10 years ago lol) but I fully understand why people persist and keep using these sites under shite conditions. Maybe if directors had just a little empathy :/

Then again, hard to imagine the AI-driven board of directors care for human nuance :D Unless you're a middle-aged, tech-illiterate, hyper-liberal then you are simply not the target demographic for BlueSky and they do not care. Big ups to all the artists out there affected by this & best of luck <3

It's tough, feels like being some pariah who can't just have a nice place to look at art in my own way, by my own choice. Some content-auditing AI is never going to understand the nuances of what is and what isn't. I've always said social media sites suck for art, but it really is how it gets shown.

Most artwork that "blows up" or whatever is trendy. Helped by a healthy overlap of normal regular people who use social media as well as those who are part of that piece's fandom. This is why people use social sites primarily, it just spreads word farther than any purely art site does.

A big thing I would have used it for is artwork and seeing the account-wide NSFW label being applied like some Third Reich Star of David badge really makes the place look soooo appealing mhm
