If you support this, you are an evil person. No tie of blood, friendship, history, or money will make me respect you. You have chosen to make yourself a moral outlaw.

Trump: "The Republican Party, we believe that Somalia bandits, third-world gangs, and jihadist sympathizers do not belong in Ohio, they do not belong in America. We got to get them the hell out of here." More "De-port! De-port!" chants from the crowd.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

Say happy birthday to Charlotte in the best way, by making sure you are registered to vote!

Friends, I'm turning 40 tomorrow. I can't celebrate now because I'm too damn busy with the election. I'll celebrate afterward. So, to help me celebrate now, please--oh, please--check your voter registration. It takes a few moments. It's easy. Do it for me: midterms.voteamerica.org/vote/verify/...

This is objectively psychotic and every member of Congress and Senate should be ashamed if they don’t try to remove him from office before this happens

NEW: In March the White House released an FY27 budget request that zeroed out the National Science Foundation's directorate of Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE). For months it was unclear what would happen. Now, with FY26 over, the damage to SBE is coming to light. My reporting:

🧵 on climate change

Brynn Paulsen, PhD@brynnpaulsen.bsky.social

I attended NY Climate Week w/ @standupforscience.net. I have some THOUGHTS. 1/ Climate change is an existential threat. Addressing it means confronting unequal harms, powerful political & financial interests, & an uncomfortable reality: good intentions do not necessarily produce adequate action.

You wouldn't know it from reading the headlines, but the president's downward mental health spiral is the biggest story in America right now We won't salvage democracy unless the media and pols start speaking the truth about Trump's damaged mind My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/trum...

inquirer.comWe need to find the words for Trump’s madness before things blow up | Will BunchThe media and politicians haven’t pinned down anything resembling a suitable description for a president’s downward spiral or the looming battle for U.S. democracy.

I don't love dunking on folks but it's so fucking funny to me that Trump was convicted of 34 felonies 2 years ago, faced no punishment, and went on to win the presidency a second time and journalists are still like, "hmm, I have an inkling that maybe he believes he's above the law for some reason."

It's jaw-dropping how often Republicans rationalize the toddler president's tantrums with "well, our special little boy felt like people were being mean to him, so it's certainly understandable that he set the room on fire"

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

Welker: "Do you agree with the president's ban [of CNN, MS NOW, and Politico]?" Barrasso: "We all respect and value the freedom of the press; it's in the Constitution…The press has an obligation to report fairly, and the president doesn't see it happening that way."

It won’t be long until these lists pop up in communities around the nation. In Central NY (and everywhere else) they will show nothing of value.

It is that time of year when Boston Magazine releases its annual "Wealthiest Public High Schools in Greater Boston" list. Please don't read these type of lists. Do more harm than good. They are not thoughtfully assessing teaching or learning and are just created to get clicks.

Santucci goes 5.1 innings with 3 runs (2 earned) and 6 strikeouts. Not a bad outing all in all. Rojas is 3-3 and has been great in the field. D’Andre Smith has played an excellent game in center.

We live in a culture obsessed with individual action. Because of that - and fossil fuel companies promoting carbon calculators - we’re convinced the most important thing we can do is to watch what we eat, how we travel, or what we use. Yes, those things do matter. But this is what matters MORE ⬇️

I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love. Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below! We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

"If had to reduce all of educational psychology to just one principle, I would say this: The most important single factor influencing learning is what the learner already knows. Ascertain this and teach him accordingly." - David Ausubel, Educational Psychology: A Cognitive View, 1968

“Teachers as technicians” is something I think about a lot. Exclusively following the script in a given curriculum material means that some students inevitably get left behind. Teachers have to be able to learn about and respond to student needs.

Nick Covington@covingtonedu.bsky.social

In turning teacher professionalism into "the faithful delivery of evidence-based curriculum" we've completely lost the plot. The fundamental professionalism of teacher practice is aligning curriculum and pedagogy to student needs, which requires knowing students AND your stuff!

This is a huge issue across the country. In elem. schools we almost exclusively teach reading and math, with hardly any time for anything else. Then kids get to secondary schools and we wonder why they aren’t more curious and don’t critically think.

Nick Covington@covingtonedu.bsky.social

My 11yo got her schedule today and she has blocked math and literacy classes — that's fully half of all available periods, every day — but just a single period each for science, social studies, band/choir, and PE/life skills/art. 🤔

I don’t have all the solutions, and I recognize the issue has multiple pieces. That said, what if we allowed students to explore content (science, history, arts, etc.) and used those subjects to help them improve reading comprehension and writing?

God already built a wall through Big Bend — it's called the Chisos Mountains. We don't need to give billions of our tax dollars to out of state vendors. We don't need to desecrate this sacred land. We don't need this useless, disgraceful, corrupt Big Bend border wall.

Teachers don't get laid off in the summer, their salaries are year round, Kevin. That's as dumb as "solar power doesn't work at night". Idiotic and willfully ignorant.

Hassett on why the economy lost 50,000 government jobs: "It was one of those weird seasonal things. Because there was a lot of snow in the winter, a lot of schools had to stay open longer for the snow days, so the teachers got laid off in July instead of the end of June. Heheheh."

Wait...we're supposed to count all the jobs?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Kevin Hassett on Fox News argues that if you exclude the sectors that lost hundreds of thousands of jobs, "you actually had a number that was about plus 100,000" 🙃
