Hey there, nice to meet you! ✌️ I'm Szymon – a software engineer who approaches problems with a product lens. I share somewhat opinionated notes on code, productivity, and life at chudy.me. Outside work, I'm a dad and husband who loves getting outdoors – tennis, hiking, and running keep me sane.

What a great day to #run! Finally, I'm below 6 minutes for 5km again, and my wife has joined me in her very first race. Yay! Fun fact, the winner has finished below 15 minutes. That's less than 3 minutes per kilometer. How crazy is that?!

Product plus engineering is the new full stack. I recently read this somewhere online, and it really resonated with me. What are your thoughts?

I’ve just learned that 200 people are coming to the event we’re speaking at today, and there are (wait for it)… 700 names on the waiting list. How cool is that! 😎 My friend used to say “that’s so semi-professional”. I guess it doesn’t apply here 🙈

Funny thing. My new running shoes ordered from Zalando just arrived at home, and I’m about to give a tech talk at their office. Should’ve asked about personal pickup 😅

Making systems more accessible to machines shouldn't come at the expense of the people using, designing, and maintaining them. With all the excitement around AI and agents, it's easy to get caught up in what's technically possible and lose sight of whom we're actually building for.

That's especially important when working on platforms and infrastructure where it's easy to lose sight of the people at the other end and how the things we build actually shape their experience.

That's why I'm particularly curious to hear how another team approaches similar challenges, what they've learned, and where our experiences overlap (or differ!). Looking forward to @intodesignsystems.bsky.social coming up this Thursday in Berlin.

We're in this interesting transition phase where chat seems to be becoming the default UX for everything, and more and more problems are expected to be solved autonomously by AI. There's certainly value in both, but I still believe we call those USER interface/experience for a reason, right?

The best part of being a jogger is that when you actually have to run (because you’re late or sth)… you can 😅

1/6 AI agents are already building with design systems. But how do we help them make the right choices? This is the question that's been bothering our team for quite a while. 🧵 They're incredibly capable, but without proper guidance, they can quietly drift away from the system's intent.

Also, I'll be in #Berlin Wed-Fri, so if you're around and fancy a coffee, a casual run, or just a chat about tech (or anything else!), drop me a DM!

Especially when what looks right at first glance doesn't necessarily follow the design rules. This year, my team explored how to keep agents in the system, not working around it, using context files, skills, and a shared source of truth to keep everything aligned.

As you take on more visible initiatives, you'll occasionally make decisions that generate friction. That's inevitable. #FoodForThought

Astro 7.4 is out now! Ever wondered why your build is slow? Run astro build --timings and Astro breaks down every phase, plugin, and page. Plus separate build and runtime image services and experimental parallel prerendering. astro.build/blog/astro-740/

astro.buildAstro 7.4 | AstroAstro 7.4 adds a --timings flag that shows where your build spends its time, separate build and runtime image services, a notFound() handler for custom entrypoints, and experimental parallel…

Getting excited for my upcoming first-ever trip to New York. Any recommendations for a first-timer? Both the obvious and the non-obvious are welcome! #NewYork #NYC

I would never have bought myself a cleaning robot, but I praise the day my wife and I got one for our birthdays 😂

First time in 10+ years I’ve spotted a random person in a car playing a song I co-composed and played on. What a feeling! 🤩

Runna Diamond level - checked! ✅ It took one year, but I finally made it. 703km over 190 sessions. Curious if I’ll ever double it to the final badge 😅 #running

Today at 4Developers in Katowice. I’ll be talking about inheriting a decade of design system decisions at Netflix, joining a panel on modernization, and trying to catch as many great talks as one person realistically can. 😅 If you’re around, come say hi!

Krzysztof Tutak with a full house, talking about limiting what an agent can do - or, in simpler terms, how to put it on a leash. Meanwhile, I’m getting ready for my talk on the same stage. Starting soon 💪 #4developers

I’m usually the one pushing back against nation-based stereotypes, but man… after a week at an all-inclusive resort, it’s hard not to notice certain patterns. 🫣

Disclaimer: I know this is anecdotal and shouldn’t be generalized to an entire population. That said, in this particular context, some trends are just very visible. 🤷‍♂️

My dear Bluesky friends. Guess who came up with the title of this talk? Think, you know him! 😎

I’ve been talking about #DesignSystems quite a bit lately. Apparently, I’m not done yet 😅 After Code Europe and a chat with @neciudan.dev on Señors @ Scale, next stop: 4Developers in Katowice, Oct 8.

How do you evolve a #DesignSystems without breaking products - or losing the decisions behind it? And what changes when AI agents start using it too? Because access to a component library doesn’t mean knowing how to use it. Although, to be fair, that’s been a problem for humans for a while too… ;)

Fun fact: this conference is where I made my public speaking debut! I also have a soft spot for Katowice, having spent a few years working for agencies in the area. This time I’ll share what I’ve learned working with design systems, using Hawkins at Netflix as a case study.

Yay! I really wanted my Thermomix to get AI capabilities. Here comes my intelligent oatmeal 🫠

There’s no other place in the world with such a high density of big-brand fashion outfits per square meter as the departure terminal at Alanya Airport. 😅

I see lots of great releases coming from @manning.com recently, and I know this one by @denodell.bsky.social is going to be a banger! I really need to give MEAP a try. I’ve already pre-ordered a few books, but I keep waiting for the paperbacks. Somehow, they still give me the most joy when reading.

Another great Manning author: @denodell.bsky.social. His book, Fast by Default, is all about being proactive and working with performance in mind from the get-go. That way, you have more time to build the stuff your users will love. The book: hubs.la/Q04y54-p0
