Often compared to Bond villains, Musk loves to be the bad guy. When he created the oxymoronic DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), Musk branded himself The Dogefather, drawing comparisons to the classic film about a criminal enterprise. So how about that AI-generated movie he made?

The pulp-novel quality of a man living on the margins was perfectly played by Brad Pitt, who won an Oscar for his role. Tarantino added that he'd love to see "a series of paperbacks with Cliff Booth getting involved with this adventure or that adventure.”

One theory I have about a Film/TV Production Head that I would argue applies basically since 2010 or so is your job is mostly a balance between "Talent Management" and "IP Management" and not much else. Netflix isn't really heavy on on IP, which means it's almost a lot of Talent Management. Anyways,

Also, this doesn't mean I'm ready for Spooky Season to end. In fact, I often take too long to get through my October picks and end up watching horror movies through November (when it's Noirvember!)

Oh yeah, the colorized image is part of MW house style. I don't think the new version is colorized, though it's often available as a bonus feature on these releases.

A pamphlet from 1923 asks if anything good can come out of Hollywood. The industry is branded as “the graveyard of virtue” but the publication seeks to show the world that there are good Christians in the area despite the moral crusades against the movies.

Cool to see that this column has been featured all day at MovieWeb. What happened to the great Hollywood studios is a great question. Here's my stab at an answer...

In a seemingly endless era of merger mania, the legacy of the great Hollywood studios teeters on a thin, decaying line. The Skydance merger is the latest in a line of grim financial deals that further infringe upon a beautiful form of art and entertainment...

More recently, production companies like A24, Bad Robot, and Blumhouse have gained a reputation for consistent genre output. However, for much of Hollywood history, the house style for specific films was determined by legacy studios like Paramount, MGM, Universal, and Warner Bros.

Many of us remember growing up with names that accompanied great action films like Carolco's Terminator 2 or Cannon's Missing in Action. Others will remember how Dimension Films was featured ahead of the first Scream.

This is also interesting because the Hollywoodland sign was erected as a land advertisement the previous year and they were already referring to the location and industry as Hollywood.

A MAGA relative once told me "nobody is banning books." Needless to say, I've mostly blacklisted that relative.

This year’s #BannedBooksWeek coincides with ALA’s official 150th anniversary. To mark the occasion, ALA has released a list of the 150 most challenged books documented from 1990, when ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom began tracking book challenges, through 2025. ala150.org/150books
