Fun fact: Dolly Parton spent decades quietly funding band uniforms and instruments at Black high schools across the South - never once putting her name on it. No headlines, no fanfare — just help, given because it was needed. Wonderful Heart ♥️ RIP Dolly ❤️

“A single-payer universal health care system could cover every American, save more than 100,000 lives a year, and still cost $1 trillion less than the system it would replace, according to a new preprint study led by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health.” ysph.yale.edu/news-article...

When you look at how relatively inexpensive it is for these measures that will have HUGE practical impact, it makes those who oppose them even more shameful.

HUGE: Seattle will provide free meals to all public school students, starting this fall. This week the city council unanimously approved $3.6 million to offer universal school meals. /1

Working on a romcom feature script right now. So me dropping everything to watch this vid on loop is less procrastination & more research... right? 😅

That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?

"..before literally ones of people" took me out 🤣

Went down to the Great American State Fair. My personal highlight might have been this Madison cosplayer arguing before literally ones of people that we’re a republic and not a democracy.

This should be the ad in support of arts education because....

Everyone is talking about Trump’s mock up arch at the Great American State Fair, so I filmed it from top to bottom and front to back for everyone who can’t see it in person.

Hi, expert on far-right extremism here, a history of domestic violence and misogyny is one of the strongest predictive variables for violent extremism, especially on the right. We've been raising the alarm on this for DECADES but no one cares.

i was probably 7 or 8? My Mom made a big deal that she & my Dad were going to talk with me about 'the birds & bees'. When the big talk day finally arrived, completely embarrassed my Mom shoved a book in my hand and told me i had to read it & report back to them what i learned. 1/

This post is unavailable.

i dutifully read the whole book. (Note:: the cartoon pictures still haunt my dreams.) i reported what i read:: when a Mommie & a Daddie love each other, they give each other special hugs and then 9 months later a stork delivers a baby into the Mommie's belly. So one bird, no bees. 2/

My parents beamed proudly thinking they had done the big 'birds & bees' talk. They asked if i had any last questions. i only had one:: Don't babies actually come from people having s&x? My parents almost melted into the ground. 3/3

There are a lot of insane things happening in this country these days. This is near the top of the list.

Media needs to stop with "critics say" and just quote the actual language of the bill. HB 249 creates a new category of "seminudity" which can be used to arrest women who aren't nude, but are wearing clothing — leggings, t-shirts without bras — that religious groups feel is too provocative.
