I'm trying to vibecode an audio monitoring tool for nixOS / KDE that is calibrated against my DAC + IEM combination. I tried this like 10 years ago but gave up when I hit the wall of knowledge that was needed. I want to know how loud my headphones are and when I need to take a break.

idk, tweaked it a bit I need to talk with someone that understands how this stuff actually works to get a sense of whether I'm just bullshitting myself or if it's actually useful maybe I should also look at what android + ios are doing for similar problems

Apparently iOS and Android both have some level of support for such things, but I couldn't find anything for nixOS / KDE. I love listening to music but I also want to protect my ears, so I need to be able to make informed decisions about my usage. This is part of accessibility as well.

I don't fully understand why such a thing doesn't already exist, maybe it was impractical to support all the different hardware setups and variations that people are using. Hopefully it'll become more tractable with LLM assistance and we can build more tools to support our delicate meat vessels.

I saw a post here and thought about responding, but then I asked the question "is this going to be a positive-sum enriching experience for both of us?" and realized the answer was probably no, so I kept scrolling.

You know how shortform video creators will often do asmr taps on products they're promoting? I wonder if anyone is optimizing for that specific detail as part of their packaging design decisions. If you can give asmr that's instant positive association with the product.

Watching the latest Brood War ASL is so immensely disappointing. No protoss makes it into ro8. This isn't fun or exciting, watching zerg win so many tournaments in a row is boring. You need to balance around creating an ecosystem that produces fun and interesting games, not endless zerg victories.

LLMs really are perfect for repetitive work that contains some ambiguities. I have finally gotten around to cleaning up my media library which has been growing organically for decades. Having a little creature that just never gives up is invaluable.

Building the actual framework within which it must operate is a bit tricky, but once it's up and running these things can just chug along forever. It feels so genuinely magical, I feel like we've barely scratched the surface in understanding what is possible.

I actually love nixos so much, I've been tinkering a bit lately and nixos just goes perfectly with claude code, I reorganized my config into something slightly more modular to get away from a single giant file and ended up with an elegant ~10 file solution.

A while back I noticed that sometimes this shadowy figure appears in my screen briefly when I'm unlocking the device, but it goes away too fast. Tonight it was lagging and I finally caught a screenshot! This is on a Pixel 4 XL. This guy appears in a few places at random, it's an Easter Egg I think

How often do you change your art and decorations around? I feel like I have so many paintings that I need to start rotating which ones I have on display, rather than keeping a fixed few constantly. This feels like an underdiscussed topic.

One extra point is the small robot looking up to the 5 men, which might be interpreted as the reality of the size of AI's impact so far, relative to the image that has been projected. What do you think? Is there any detail that I missed or is there any detail that you would interpret differently?

The shadow he casts is large and leads into the key topic of the article which seeks to explore the Mythos release as. Another subtle detail is that Dario has a wireless headset, which we can interpret to mean that he's the one that everyone is calling.

Sam Altman is enamored with the concept and idea of AGI, as can be seen by having him gazing lovingly into the robotic head. He comes off as an AGI dreamer in this piece. Despite this, he's clearly blocking the way and comfortably resting in second place.

It rank orders each company: Anthropic > OpenAI > Google > xAI > Meta, and this is expressed by their distance on the steps. One subtle detail is Elon's foot on the same step as Demis, which we can interpret as his brief ability to catch up with Grok before being overtaken.

Now their postures and accessories: Dario Amodei is sitting on a rack, demonstrating dominance over the enterprise market as he looks off to the side to represent Anthropic's contemplative and philosophical nature.

I was tinkering with win32 UI widgets and found this unexpected. If you click in the line of the TrackBar widget, what behavior do you expect? and what do you think happens? For example if I click it on the 50 or 100 point

The answer is that it jumps 20 points, regardless of how far or close I click it! I don't know if this has always been the behavior or if I misconfigured it. I would've expected it to jump to the point where I clicked it on the line.
