“It was Black women — not Abraham Lincoln — who first used the rhetoric of the American Revolution to denounce the practice of chattel slavery as anti-Christian, anti-democracy and anti-American,” columnist Bella BAHHS writes. thetriibe.com/2024/12/the-...

Yall Northern California just got a tsunami warning…apparently a 7.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of eureka, ca. The warning is from Douglas, Oregon through just north of Santa Cruz. Stay safe everybody

A future conversation... "Dad, how could people want things to be so bad?" "Well son, we used the internet mostly for porn and screaming our feelings. When it came time to look up things like "fascism" and "tariffs" I'm afraid it was a bridge too far for most."

It makes me sad when I think about how many people consume media without thinking critically about it. All of the media that has spoken the most powerfully to me are the ones where the deeper meanings connected with me, and I wish everyone could experience how profound it is.

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election. Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

If you have a new serious health condition that has developed since you had a covid infection, it may have been caused by the covid infection. Covid can do damage to every organ system. Lasting damage. Even if you've been vaccinated or had Covid before.

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example). 1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company. 2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly. 🧵

You are up to date.
