“Why don’t you like communism?” “It’s bad.” “What is communism?” “It’s that Russia thing.” “But Putin and Trump are friends.” “Then it must be a China thing.” “So what actually is communism?” “I don’t know, but it’s bad.”

Trump lies so often that he should just list them all by number. Like #29 - the 2020 election was stolen. Or #73 - the Reflecting Pools was vandalized. Then he could just rattle off a list of numbers, say #15, #89, #212, #389. It would save everyone a lot of time and trouble.

The firing of Katie Zacharia in one week says a great deal more about Trump and his hiring practices than it does about Zacharia and her misrepresentation of her qualifications. A minimal amount of vetting would've debunked her claim that she was a lawyer and prevented this farce from happening.

Here's a fun statistic for all the baseball fans: The combined salaries of the Milwaukee Brewers ($143.5M), Tampa Bay Rays ($98.3M), and Cleveland Guardians ($74.2M) are $22M less than that of the other team in the playoffs, the LA Dodgers ($338M). The 74-88 NY Mets topped the list at $346.8M.

Trump's $90 bribe for 20 million Americans is insidious. He's using OUR money to bribe US to vote republican in the midterm elections. This is MAGA at its most cultish.

There are a *lot* of top priorities for Dems in the next Congress but forcing the administration to follow the law on spending is probably the top of the top priorities.

Russ Vought: "We fund what we need to fund. I'm not at all shy about we want to spend billions of dollars on a new shipyard. We're up there defending the $1.5t that the Department of War needs. But it's also coming at a ton of reduction on the non-defense side"

"You're killing yourselves" -- get a load of how Trump ranted and raved for half an hour like a total lunatic during his speech in Ireland. Totally incoherent, brain flitting from topic to topic

More than 100,000 resident of Gary, Indiana have been without power - and many without water - for over a week. This is a time for the federal government to do some tangible good, but the Trump administration's top priority today is a lameass car race through Washington DC.

I can't think of three men I admire more. I really miss them. This country really misses them. Remember what they would do were they alive today and follow their lead.

Was Tasia Fortune lynched in Jackson, Mississippi this week? As of July 31, Jackson (pop. 142,000) has had 54 homicides. That's one for every 2,629 residents. Chicago, Illinois (pop. 2.7M) has had 253, or one for every 10,672 residents. Jackson's homicide rate is 4X that of Chicago's.

Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

Trump told reporters today that the $13 billion he took from Venezuela is being used to "run the country." He should be challenged to show exactly what money went where. Otherwise, we reserve the right to consider the possibility that the money went into his bank account.

Fifteen minutes or so into Trump's speech at the WHCD this evening, he'd already mentioned Trump Derangement Syndrome several times, the Epstein Ballroom, and a host of other irrelevancies. Every journalist should walk out. While he's still speaking. Show him what free speech really is.

We're way past the point at which Trump should've done something about ICE and its terrorist activities. He should be charged as an accessory to murder. He is no less responsible than the men who pulled the triggers.

Breaking News: Trump has promised that the receipts from his birthday UFC cage match event will cover the $324 billion we now owe Iran. Your worries are over.

Every time you or a candidate you've endorsed loses an election, you can't say that the election was rigged. The more you refuse to accept the results and point your finger at democrats, the less likely people are to believe you. At some point, they'll just tune you out. Where will you be then?

the president is bored with his war

EAMON JAVERS Do you think the negotiations are over now? PRESIDENT TRUMP I don’t care if they’re over, honestly. I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less. If they’re over, they’re over. If they’re not, you know, I think they took too much time. Frankly, I thought they started to get very boring.

The Coolidge coin is actually quite a rare collectible precisely because the public didn't like it and the Treasury eventually melted most of them down. As a result, the rule against living persons on coins was instituted soon thereafter.

Bessent on Trump's face appearing on a $250 bill: "I think it's fitting. President Trump is the president during our 250th anniversary. Calvin Coolidge was president during the 150th anniversary and there was a coin printed for him. I think it's a great celebratory note for a great president."

The balance of Nature is sacrosanct; protecting it is in our own best interest. We can either tend to our own needs, forgetting those of all other species, or we can be the caretakers of all of us at once.

In response to our juvenile wannabe dictator posting an AI image of his pathetic self throwing Stephen Colbert into a dumpster, it's time to heave hefty bags of garbage over the fence in front of the White House.

The DOJ made a deal with the IRS to settle Trump’s lawsuit for $1.8 billion, a special fund to pay his January 6 insurrection army for future security service in the upcoming November elections and beyond. American citizens are now totally justified in refusing to pay their income taxes.

There needs to be a website that lists as many of Trump’s public events as possible. Every day. Then, there need to be protesters showing up at every one of those events. And we all need to apply for a chunk of that $1.8 billion slush fund. Legal, active resistance. Every day.

Today American citizens marched across the Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, 61 years after the first march contributed to the passage of the Voting Rights Act. That the Supreme Court made their protest necessary is a travesty. May there be good trouble until this shameful injustice is rectified.

After TN Gov. Bill Lee signed its new gerrymandered district map into law, House Speaker Cameron Sexton removed protesting Democratic members from committee assignments, leaving their electorates unrepresented. In less than a week, TN republicans have taken their state back 126 years.
