I'm currently on a bus on Balsall Heath, Birmingham. That's Birmingham UK, not Birmingham Alabama. Though I do have some Sun Ra albums on CD.

Stop what you are doing and look at this lovely story. A photography student in the 80s took pictures of punks and mods on the street in Preston. He’s now tracked them down and photographed them again. The pictures and stories are really ❤️ www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Apex is one of the great stalwart sff magazines that's survived the corpo-fascist blighting of the internet. Help them keep going. My 1st non-flash pro pub was with them; 'The Widow and the Xir', 2011, a story about nomads, ghosts, transmigrating souls on the desert moon of a Saturnine giant:

We're in the final 4 days of the Apex Magazine 2021 Kickstarter and we're $4,393 away from our initial funding goal. The time is now! Let's hit our goal and fund Apex for 2027! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ape...

In all this, let's not lose sight of the fact that Truss is accusing Gove of being one of three people involved in a Stab In The Dark.

Vučić’s defeat could mark a geopolitical turning point for Serbia. It could also inject fresh momentum into EU enlargement across the W. Balkans, where progress has stalled for years. A Serbia firmly anchored in Europe would transform the region’s outlook and significantly weaken Russia’s influence

gotta say hats off to all the writers pretending to do profiles of Silicon Valley CEOs just so they can add that one same paragraph, every single time, that demonstrates they're all insane freaks who do not know or like their own kids.

cool, cool

High streets are an important part of modern Britain. It's where afternoon drinkers go to get interviewed by news reporters for their views about immigration.

James Ball@jamesrball.com

The British syndrome, summarised: 78% of us say our high streets are important to us. But only 28% of us actually use their local high street even once a week – and only 53% of people said they used theirs *once a month*. We won't use it, and we won't lose it.

Nobody buys anything, but the entire political culture is guided by someone with a bag of White Lightning next to a defunct jewellers.

The only way we can move on is if Andy Burnham hears a new Half Man Half Biscuit song extemporising about this underlying cause of our policy impasse.

Fantastic opportunity for an Edinburgh show/novel => Netflix adaptation/movie about a demented woman who either thinks she's Liz Truss, or actually is Liz Truss, it's all indeterminate for the sake of art (and also legal reasons).

He shouldn't be getting on that topic given the state of his shelf game. Very desultory attempt at a few Penguin Modern Classics, feeble selection from Routledge, I'm sure we'll only find Booker fiction and dated big-idea-books if we look closer.

What the whole "stockpiling stuff" imbroglio needs right now is a Telegraph columnist to intervene with "I've Been Drinking My Own Piss For Years, What's The Problem", with an escalation about how easy it is to make DIY vodka from potatoes in a bathtub.

The minor parties will get into a policy arms race with their demands for a National Piss Service to equalise the supply. Zack insists billionaires have the most piss, while Nigel and Rupert are concerned it should just be British piss for British pisstakers.
