Spacing@spacing.bsky.social

Olivia Chow could've run a campaign focused on standing up to Queen's Park — she didn't, and now we have to live with the potential consequences, writes senior editor John Lorinc. @johnlorinc.bsky.social #TOpoli spacing.ca/toronto/2026...

NEW: The Ford government is planning to change transparency laws in Ontario to stop the release of any messages involving ministers and staff, a retroactive move which could also keep the premier’s cellphone records permanently secret. #Onpoli globalnews.ca/news/1172951...

the people who aren’t wealthy in rosedale aren’t buying 3+ million dollar homes in toronto…

Matt Elliott@graphicmatt.com

Saxe pushes back against Chow saying that people in Rosedale can afford this increased land transfer tax. She says not everyone in Rosedale is wealthy. She asks Chow to apologizing for painting the neighbourhood with a "broad brush."

people are rightly laughing at this but this is key to understanding the depths of the conservative mind

“By the way, there’s been hundreds of thousands of these tickets. So obviously their system — the speed cameras — do not work,” declares Premier Doug Ford.

dougie wants to be the mayor of toronto so bad

Matt Elliott@graphicmatt.com

Ah, here’s the announcement via news release: "The Ontario government intends to introduce legislation next month that will ban the use of municipal automated speed enforcement cameras across the province, ensuring they are no longer used as a form of revenue.” news.ontario.ca/en/release/1...

my cllr, who sits on the ttc board, never fails to disappoint on transit issues

Alex Bozikovic@alexbozikovic.bsky.social

And @diannesaxe.bsky.social has rewarded them. At this rate, it will be politically impossible to ever change any part of Toronto’s public realm from car domination. Ms. Saxe’s main issues are active transportation and climate action. If she doesn’t stand up for reform, who will?

This has always been the conundrum of the left. It is rooted in the economics of a (shrinking) white working class manual labour, but culturally grounded in metropolitan progressives. Bridging this divide in a way that builds solidarity rather than pitting them against each other is the holy grail

Update to this: York University's @schulichschool.bsky.social is also distancing itself from Jamroz, saying that although he was a volunteer mentor at the school, he has not been one for several years — and the term Jamroz used to describe his involvement, "tenured mentor," doesn't exist there.

it was never about the money economy. MAGA wants segregation and slavery

Chris Hayes@chrislhayes.bsky.social

Interesting that Trump’s economic approval has fallen to basically the worst of his career and his overall approval is right around where it always is. Maybe the entire phenomenon isn’t actually about the economy? Or maybe there’s much further to fall if / when things get worse. We’re gonna find out

so disturbing and the ford govt keeps increasing ON prison footprint
