It’s a rough day to release a book, but release days are picked well in advance and unless I’m mistaken it’s not the book’s fault it was released on a day like today… which means for any followers so inclined, here’s a little release that could probably use a boost

Today, I'm celebrating the launch of Flightless! 🪽 My fantasy heist novel is for folks who want a better future but don't see the path forward. Revolution is ours, friends.

I promise you there are no politics in my fantasy novel about a Nobel woman falsely accused of plotting insurrection and sent into exile, and her girlfriend who insists on accompanying her

I promise you there are no politics in my fantasy novel about two women who use ancient artifacts that only women can use to try to save a small town despite the efforts of one man who constantly tries to imprison them and another man who constantly tries to control them.

There were some great stories in this

If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is. Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

I’ve attended the past two years and of course am going back for a third… lots of lovely writing discussions among a classroom-sized group of writers, and other wonderful discussion, and sometimes I even get some writing done

I just learned there are only 4 tickets left to join the Sandia Starforgers retreat for SFFH writers, where I'll be teaching this spring in New Mexico. It's an intimate event with critique sessions, pitching, and chances to meet other writers. This is my 3rd year on faculty. starforgers.com

Also seeing lots of "but how do I friend even?" From introvert folk and shy or lonely folk. I really should create a "How to friend" tutorial. Because I did not come by this naturally and it turns out that there are friendship skills you can develop.

I’ve liked quite a few (and haven’t seen Stranger Things S5 yet) but for me the best in recent memory was The Good Place. I recall it got a mixed reception but I thought it was great

Astreia@redoubters.bsky.social

Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show: What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

The TLS staff had a week to figure out what to say. What do you say, about novels, about fiction, when you know that the world as you know it is about to end, but it hasn't yet? 4/

I work in an off-site storage facility for an academic library, which has archives and also "regular" books that we don't want to weed but don't have the space to keep on campus. I am constantly finding "Holy shit look at this thing, I wish I had the rest of my life to read it" items at work. 1/?
